Two Cannons were given to the Texan Army under General Sam Houston, by the people of Cincinnati, Ohio to defeat the Mexican Army under General Santa Anna at San Jacinto, now Pasadena, Texas.  Those cannons were used as salute guns for years after the Texan victory at San Jacinto and were located at Market Square in downtown Houston, Texas until the Civil War.

The Twin Sisters cannons were named after the twin daughters of Dr Rice that hid them in hollow wear on a river boat to transport them to Texas. As they were unloaded, a man in the crowd said that they should name them after the twin daughters of Dr Rice as they had traveled with the cannons.

 

When Civil War erupted the cannons were taken to Galveston to defend Texas from Yankee invasion and were used in the Battle of Galveston. Dr Henry Graves was a part of the Confederate battery stationed there in charge of the cannons. At the close of the war in August 1865, Dr Graves, along with his black servant Dan and five other ex-Confederates, were returning from Galveston on the train and got off at the old Harrisburg train depot, just outside Houston, where they spied the Twin Sisters sitting on the loading dock. They decided to steal and hide the cannons “so they would never be used on Texas men” and ” so no damn Yankee could ever find them”.

After much research and finding records of Dr Graves, Redneck Archaeologist, Jackson Burns gets his gang together consisting of Pat, JayBob, Legs, Mia and Frank to search the area described by the guys that stole the cannons and buried them. Determined to find them, they set out to find the legendary treasures

Finding the markings on the tree helps enforce the crew’s research as Dr Graves had said that hey did mark the trees when they buried the cannons. Finding the Valentine house location and the train depot, Jackson was able to triangulate the burial location just as the ex-Confederates had
