According to news reports, this sudden violent rampage was completely out of character for James Holmes, who was described as “shy.”
The New York Times is now reporting:
Billy Kromka, a pre-med student at the University of Colorado, Boulder, worked with Mr. Holmes for three months last summer as a research assistant in a lab of at the Anschutz Medical Campus. Mr. Kromka said he was surprised to learn Mr. Holmes was the shooting suspect. “It was just shocking, because there was no way I thought he could have the capacity to do commit an atrocity like this,” he said. There is already conjecture that James Holmes may have been involved in mind-altering neuroscience research and ended up becoming involved at a depth he never anticipated. His actions clearly show a strange detachment from reality, indicating he was not in his right mind. That can only typically be accomplished through drugs, hypnosis or trauma (and sometimes all three).

The only reason I have had this thought myself, is the strain on the gun laws and those trying to take away them in America, it is going to be the poster child for no guns, just watch. Other events will happen to the point people will just hand them in.
We in Canada have certain times had gun drop off day with no question or charges. You would not believe the amount of Canadians who did indeed give them up. We are not allowed guns, and I am thankful for that. Tho I can see the gun battles growing in size and amount in our major cities.

This is exactly the reason for the Martin Bryant “shootings” in Tasmania.

I wonder how this situation would have turned out if at least some of the movie goers would have been armed. I believe it would have turned out a whole lot different. This situation and others like them will always happen because law abiding citizens are not armed. They are sitting ducks for the lawless. How do you think a situation would turn out if an armed criminal would try to rob a place were offduty police officers hung out?
Using that logic, let’s just arm everyone with their own personal nuclear weapon. Then the violence should end even quicker.
