Assange To Address Supporters From Ecuador Embassy

British campaigners have gathered outside the Ecuadorian embassy in London as WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange prepares for his first public appearance since he has taken refuge inside the South American country’s building two months ago.
Assange is expected to speak from the balcony of the embassy in a few hours today on August 19, three days after Ecuador granted him political asylum.
Being asked how Assange would make his statement, a spokesman for WikiLeaks said, “I cannot go into details of that for security reasons.”
On Thursday August 16, Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Ricardo Patino announced that the South American country has decided to grant WikiLeaks founder political asylum.
However, British Foreign Secretary William Hague stressed that Britain will not allow Assange to leave the country to Ecuador and that he will be arrested and extradited to Sweden once he leaves the embassy’s building.
