Earlier this month, Reuters reported that the U.N. dismissed proposals on the use of geo-engineering in an effort to mitigate global warming. (1)
There are two schools of thought, geo-engineering will be the only way to stop global climate change and the other is that geo-engineering is a new science that is little understood and could result in the worsening of environmental conditions.
Nevertheless, there are some scientists out there studying this fledgling science and ready to take it from the lab and into the “real world.” Many of these scientists are funded by billionaires, which begs the question: “What are the billionaires getting out of it?”
Are they looking for a marketable product, a way to save themselves first in the event of a climate catastrophe or do they just relish in the idea of playing God with planet; even if the result is worsening conditions might occur?
The Royal Society defines geo-engineering “as the deliberate large-scale manipulation of the planetary environment to counteract anthropogenic climate change.” (2)
