It is the opinion of this shadow direction time of day analyst that the earliest point in this video, (not the beginning frames), occurs at 10:42am EST, and that this indicates the aerial video platform purported to be the Chopper 12 News helicopter that produced this video was on scene and filming at or before 10:42am EST. 

This presentation displays 18 screen captures, (still images), taken from the “Chopper 12 News” “Crystal Clear Video with Zooms” Sandy Hook aerial footage video. Shadows and their paths in each of the screen capture still images are analyzed for direction and a Time of Day stamp is applied to each screenshot so as to develop a Timeline that puts the video data in an understandable format with respect to the real time the footage was produced, (filmed).

These still image screen shots are some of the very best found in the video that lend themselves well to the analysis of the shadows and their paths cast by both persons and permanant landmarks found in the video that can then be found in google Earth as well. Or, a line drawn to represent the shadow path of an individual in the video that remains parallel to the original shadow path is found to intersect nearby permanant landmarks.

This analysis is based on co-linear, permanant landmarks. No angles are measured here and no vector exptrapolation to any great degree is performed. This is a more basic and understandable form of shadow direction analysis for Time of Day stamp than those which might demand intense estimation, specualation and the use of advanced maths. 

Once the shadow path is established in google Earth, the shadow direction can be analyzed using the Sun Shadow Applet, which takes the direction of the shadow and compares that to a compass heading and calculates the Time of Day indicated by the directional analysis of the shadow path under study.
