Officials Call For Release of Pastor Saeed Abedini in Iran
In July 2012, Pastor Saeed Abedini was convicted in Iran for his Christian faith and was sentenced to eight years in Evin Prison, one of Iran’s most notorious and deadly prisons.
Pastor Abedini had traveled to Iran in order to help build an orphanage. According to reports, the American citizen has undergone brutal torture and is danger of being killed due to his faith.
People and human rights groups across the world are calling for the pastor’s release, with “free Pastor Saeed Abedini” campaigns prioritizing many human rights organization agendas.
One such campaign is being promoted by the Brazilian Center for Law and Justice (BCLJ), an affiliate of the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ).
Brazilian Congressman Feliciano made a video urging people to take a stand for Pastor Saeed. Feliciano advocates that they need 300,000 signatures to send to the UN and the Human Rights Counsel, in order to ask them to intervene in the case, stating that no matter where in the world you are you can sign the petition.
