True, Bush made the Patriot Act law but before condemning him for it, consider the atmosphere back then. For the first time in history, our country was attacked by terrorists. Hawaii was not a part of our country in 1941. EVERY CITIZEN was in favor of hitting back at the terrorists therefore the Patriot Act became law. Did it go too far? Probably. Should it have expired after 5 years? Again, probably. Did it create a government agency (Homeland Security) that should be disbanded and defunded? Most certainly. Will ANY POLITICIAN lift a finger to shut Homeland Security down? Hell no. Bush has his faults but he acted in the best interest of the country. I don’t think the same can be said for the current leader.
Should we give away all of our constitutional rights every time something bad happens? Were we really attacked by terrorist? Or was it just made to look like it so they could take away our rights.
