Did Jon Stewart Retire to Elite Bunker Ahead of September Fireworks?

In February, Jon Stewart sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry when he announced he was resigning as host of the mega-popular program, The Daily Show, where for 16 years he captivated audiences with a retelling of political events with comic flair and genius.

“In my heart I know it is time for someone else to have that opportunity,” Stewart told a stunned studio audience. “We’re still working out details.”

“This show doesn’t deserve an even slightly restless host and neither do you,” he continued. “I don’t think I’m going to miss being on television every day. I’m going to miss coming here every day.”

Former White House adviser David Axelrod was interviewed on The Daily Show before Stewart announced his decision. But that was certainly not the first time Stewart met with the Washington elite. In fact, on at least two reported occasions it was President Barack Obama who played the host to the Comedy Central star – at the White House.

According to Politico (“Jon Stewart’s Secret White House Visits”), “Stewart slipped unnoticed into the White House in the midst of the October 2011 budget fight, summoned to an Oval Office coffee with President Barack Obama…”

Later, in February 2014, Stewart paid a visit to the White House “for a midmorning visit hours before the president would go before television cameras to warn Russia that ‘there will be costs’ if it made any further military intervention in Ukraine.”

Indeed, the level of closed door contact between Stewart’s team and the Obama administration skirted the line between what could be considered politically appropriate. Was the Comedy Central star being used to advocate on behalf of Democratic policy, or did the comedian and the politician simply enjoy each other’s company over coffee?

It was also reported by Politico that Axelrod “kept in touch with the host by phone and email. In an interview, Axelrod said Stewart was “a useful prod” for the administration.

“I can’t say that because Jon Stewart was unhappy policy changed. But I can say that he had forceful arguments, they were arguments that we knew would be heard and deserved to be answered,” Axelrod said.

Overall, President Obama appeared on The Daily Show seven times, his last appearance on July 21, just weeks before Stewart officially quit his desk for good on August 6, 2015. Despite enjoying sky-high ratings, Stewart only said that he wanted to spend more time with his family as reason for resigning.

Some are asking why Stewart chose to end his show in August, just one month before the end of the Shemitah – the seventh year of the Jewish agricultural cycle (better known today as the 7-year business cycle) as set down in the Torah – which many people are predicting will be a time of great upheaval.

Indeed, September 15, 2015 will literally be a once in a millennial event, with a tetrad of blood moons all falling on Jewish religious days during the Shemitah.

For those who are keeping track of such events, an uncanny number of major events have occurred in Shemitah years. In 2008, for example, the world suffered a major financial crisis, while in September 2001 the United States was hit by the worst terror attack ever on its territory, as well as a massive sell-off on Wall Street when markets reopened on Sept. 17.

Jeff Berwick, Canadian entrepreneur and editor of The Dollar Vigilante, recently told Gordon T. Long in an interview:  “There’s enough going on in September to have me incredibly curious and concerned about what’s going to happen.”

So what is expected to happen next month as the historic Shemitah draws to a close on September 13? Well, here are just a few of the upcoming major events:

Jade Helm 15, a highly secretive (i.e. no media presence permitted) US military exercise spanning seven Southwestern states is expected to end of September 15;

Pope Francis is scheduled to address the 70^th annual UN General Assembly in New York on September 25;

The Pope is also expected to deliver an address to the UN Summit for the Adoption of the Post-2015 Development Agenda, which some say is just window dressing for the much-anticipated New World Order;

The US Federal Reserve will hold its Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) on September 16-17, where it is anticipated that Fed chairwoman, Janet L. Yellen, will announce an interest rate hike, thus triggering global economic mayhem.

So what does all of this – if anything – have to do with Jon Stewart, Comedy Central’s star performer? Well, aside from his intense relations with the powers-that-be, Jon Stewart (real name: Jon Stuart Leibowitz) is the younger brother of none other than Larry Leibowitz, the former Chief Operating Officer of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).

Leibowitz – who also held high positions at Credit Suisse and Morgan Stanley – followed his younger brother into a relative early retirement when he left the NYSE in early 2014.

So is it just coincidence that exactly one month before the proverbial sh** is expected to hit the fan, Jon Stewart announces his retirement from a show that was enjoying sky-high ratings?

Do the Leibowitz brothers – perhaps the best-connected guys on the entire East Coast – have special reservations on the New-Age ark, which will carry the elite along the crest of the financial wave expected to strike the planet next month?

Or is it all just a joke – Comedy Central style?
