Boston Burger Company

When I want to really indulge, I often go for a burger and fries. First off, I’ll take any excuse I can get to eat french fries, but really, the combo is just so classic and comforting that it’s hard to go wrong. At restaurants I visit more than once, I often check out the burger offering, because I really think you can judge a restaurant on their overall skill and awesomeness by how the execute their burger. They’re also great because there are so many different styles and variations that it’s impossible to ever get bored with a burger. And at Boston Burger Company, different styles and variations are the name of the game.

At first glance, their menu is completely overwhelming. It features 29 burgers, a whole slew of chicken sandwich options, and many other snacks, apps, and sides so everyone can find something delicious to eat. But honestly, I rarely look beyond the burgers. And the ridiculous garlic parm wedge cut fries.

At our most recent visit, we decided to sit down instead of grabbing our food to go, and also promised to try a couple new burgers and other BBC offerings. I started with a Downeast Cranberry — always a solid choice.

We also opted for the Buffalo Boneless Wings, with the medium buffalo sauce. They were definitely a bit spicy for me (I’m a total wuss), but the sauce was delicious, and I quite enjoyed these. The serving was huge, and knowing that we had burgers coming next, we bagged up the leftovers to go.

I was really undecided about what to try, since I’ve tried a lot of the burgers at BBC before. Feeling like I could totally justify the most ridiculous and indulgent thing on the menu since I knew I’d be writing about it on the blog (and of course, that’s a perfect excuse), I opted for the 420 Burger. Let me just say, it was as ridiculous as you might imagine. The burger is loaded with al sorts of fries goodies – fried mac and cheese balls, sweet potato fries, fried mozzarella sticks, and onion rings. Oh, and bacon! And American cheese, of course. The burger then gets a heavy dose of golden BBQ sauce to top it all off, and is served with chips. Holy unhealthy, and holy delicious! I only ate about half of this, and I was stuffed to the gills.

BF decided to go for the Hot Mess,, which is served with homemade 1000 island dressing, sweet potato fries, bacon, american cjeese, jalapeno, pickles, red onion, and shredded lettuce. What a mouthful! Where my burger was just as outrageous and over the top as you can get, the Hot Mess is actually a really well balanced burger, where all of the flavors compliment each other in wonderful ways, and make each bit a wonderful, delicious experience. I could probably eat this burger again and again and again. And then probably again.

The burgers are definitely most awesome served fresh in-house, but BBC does offer takeout, which we’ve indulged in probably one too many times, and absolutely will indulge in again. The burgers come with beans and/or coleslaw, not separately pictured here, but we got one of each and they were both are super tasty. The beans are nice and sweet, the coleslaw cool and creamy.

Writing this post, I honestly can’t wait until my next BBC experience. If you haven’t been yet, well then what are you waiting for?!
