Walmart Grocery Pick Up: Groceries To Go!!!

I’m a little different than most when it comes to grocery shopping. Some people hate to go grocery shopping, but I happen to love it! I mean I do have my days when it can be a chore, but for the most part I like browsing through the store especially if I’m by myself.

My kids are older now, so it does make things a bit easier, but when they were younger grocery shopping used to be my alone time (sad but so true). I do have those days when I several errands to run and wish there was an easier way when it comes to grocery shopping.

Well, I’m here to tell you there is an easier way………. Insert Walmart’s New Grocery Pick up!!!!! As a Walmart Mom I was asked to try out the new Grocery Pick up service at my local store and share how I liked it. I can’t tell you how excited I was to give this a try!!!!!!! I have never had my own personal shopper, so I was super excited about this.

Here’s how it works……. To start first you will need to find out if Walmart Grocery Pick Up is available in your area? You can do this by entering your zip code in on the Grocery Pick up home page. For me Walmarts Grocery Pick up was not available at my local Royse City Walmart, but it was available at the Rockwall, TX location which is only 15 minutes away.

Once you choose your location you will register and pick a designated time to pick up your groceries. Pick ups can be scheduled seven days a week, so choose a day and time that is best for you. Walmart offers 2 hour time windows, so there’s plenty to choose from. After you choose your location and pick up time, now it’s time to go shopping.

Fill your online grocery cart with grocery items! To find specific products and items, use the SEARCH box on the home page of Walmart Grocery. You can also use the Navigation as well and shop by departments. After your first order Walmart remembers the items you purchased and automatically adds them to your Favorites ♥ section on the Walmart Grocery website.

To order your favorite items just click on the Favorites ♥ link and you can easily add any of your favorite items to your next order. This is great because now you don’t have to search for your regular or favorite items on the site. Just click on the favorites link and add any of the saved items to your cart.

Substitutions are made when items you order are unavailable on the day your order is packed. If you do not want substitutes make sure to uncheck the substitution boxes when adding items to your order.

You can also make this change in your substitution settings in your account. On my first grocery pick up order “Substitutions” were automatically checked on all of my items. I was so excited that I totally missed that part, but it wasn’t a big deal. I only had two items that were not available (Walmart Half & Half and Colgate Toothpaste).

Walmart’s personal shopper kindly substituted my order with Borden Half & Half and another variety of Colgate toothpaste and I did not have to pay the price difference. That was a great perk!!! If you’re really picky on certain items make sure to uncheck the substitution box for that particular item.

Once you have chosen all of your items, review your order, and proceed to check out. Enter any promo or coupon codes in the (promo box), click apply and place your order.

After your order is placed you will see a “Order Confirmation” screen, confirming your order to print. A copy of your order is also emailed to a designated email address that you provided when you register.

Print the order confirmation page to take to the store with you to pick up your order. The confirmation page will have your order number, the requested pick up time window, all the items you chose, pick up instructions, and a map with your store pick up location. Pick up is really easy!!!!

At your designated time, go to your Walmart Pick up location. Someone from Walmart will call you 15 minutes before the start of your time slot. You will also need to call 10 minutes before your arrival for faster service.

Once you enter the Walmart parking lot there are signs directing you to exactly where grocery pick up is located. When I entered the parking lot I noticed orange arrows on the parking lot directing me to where I needed to go. My store also had a huge banner on the front right side of the store, so it’s really hard to miss.

Once I arrived in the designated parking lot, I picked a parking spot, and called for my order. I also want to point out that all of your groceries are kept in a cooling area, so everything stays fresh until you arrive at the pick up location.

You will see numbered signs in front of each parking spot and a telephone number to call. Just call the number, give them your full name and parking spot number and they will bring your order out to you. You don’t even have to get out of your car!!!! (can I get a AMEN).

Within 5 minutes my delivery person was wheeling my order over to my car in large crates. Susie was so friendly and explained everything to me. She went over all my substitutions, I paid for my order, and she loaded everything into my car. I made sure I had all my items and just like that I was back on my way home. The whole pick up process took no more than 10 minutes (can I get another Amen).

I unloaded all my groceries and everything looked good. Even my bananas were perfect with a little green on them. For my substitutions I usually purchase the Great Value Half & Half, but they were sold out, so my personal shopper gave me Borden’s Half & Half and I did not have to pay the price difference. It was the same issue with the Colgate Toothpaste.

How did I like the NEW Walmart Grocery Pick Up?

Oh my goodness this new grocery shopping experience is totally awesome!!!! Anyone who has young children can really benefit from this new grocery pick up service. Not only is this service free, but it’s also super simple and will save your sanity . You don’t even have to get your kids out of the car.

I totally felt strange having a personal shopper, shop for all my grocery items, but once everything was loaded in my car, I easily got over that LOL. All my produce and meat looked really good, so I will DEFINITELY be using this service again. Thank you Walmart for making my shopping grocery experience so much easier.

Important Reminders:

Walmart Grocery Pick up is not available at all Walmart locations. To find out if Walmart offers a Grocery Pick up in your area, enter your zip code in the check availability box on the Grocery Pick up home page.
Walmart Grocery requires a $30 minimum purchase per pick up order.
Currently Walmart Grocery Pick up only accepts credit/debit cards. Cash, gift cards, Walmart gift cards, E-Gift Cards or other forms of payment are not accepted at this time.
Walmart has a cut off time for any online grocery order changes, so make sure to make note of that if you want to remove or add any items to your grocery pick up order.
Walmart Grocery does not price match from other online grocery retailers or physical stores.
Item substitutions are not required. If you check “do not allow substitutions” on your order, please keep in mind any items that are not available will be left off your order.
Pricing may change between the day you order and your pick up date, but no worries because Walmart will give you the lowest item price. Cost is determined at the time of pick up.
Pickups can be scheduled seven days a week, up to three weeks in advance.
Same day order and pick up is available.
Walmart Pick up is always FREE with no hidden service fees, and you do not have to leave a tip for this service.
