2nd Suspect in Kidnapping & Shooting Arrested in Durham, NC by U.S. Marshals

Greensboro, NC – The second suspect, Curtis Lewis Jackson, 18, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force (JFTF) and the Durham Police Department’s Violent Incident Response Team (VIRT) on January 21, 2016, at approximately 4:00 PM. Jackson was wanted by the Durham Police Department for Attempted First Degree Murder, First Degree Kidnapping and Felony Conspiracy. The warrants for arrest were issued on January 20, 2016.
On June 30, 2016, at approximately 1:00 AM, officers of the Durham Police Department responded to a shooting at the 500 block of Hardee Street in Durham. Upon arrival, officers found a victim who had suffered a gunshot wound to the stomach. Per authorities, the victim informed the officers that he had received a call for a taxi ride and was walking toward his taxi when two males approached him. The two males then forced the victim into an apartment and shot him. The victim was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.
Through investigative efforts, the JFTF & VIRT developed information that Jackson was staying at a residence in the 3300 block of Durham Chapel Hill Boulevard in Durham. The Investigators verified the information, surrounded and converged on the residence taking Jackson into custody without incident. Jackson was transported to the Durham County Jail where he is currently being held on the alleged charges. Additionally, the other suspect Deandre Lamar Jackson, 25, was arrested by the Durham Police Department on January 19, 2016, in connection to the alleged charges.

Police Department, Durham Police Department, Greensboro Police Department, High Point Police Department, Winston-Salem Police Department, Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Orange County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, Department of Community Corrections – Probation & Parole.
