Kansas Shooting: 2 People Killed- At Least 20 Wounded, Gunman Confirmed Dead (Video)
(N.Morgan) A mass shooting has taken place in Hesston Kansas, which has left 2 dead and multiple casualties.
Eyewitness News has confirmed that a suspect in a deadly shooting at Excel Industries, 200 S. Ridge Road, in Hesston is down.
The information comes to us from Harvey County dispatchers. We’re working to gather more details on the situation. We’ll have the latest in a news conference at 6:30 p.m.
Another news outlet, the Hesston Record reported that the shooter has been shot by law enforcement and was carrying an AK-47 at the time.
An Excel Industries employee believes five victims were shot, according to KAKE.
At about 5:50 p.m., a spokesman with Via Christi in Wichita confirmed at least one patient from Excel Industries was taken to St. Francis hospital in Wichita.
Hesston College is placed on lockdown.
We are continuing to look into a separate shooting reported at 12th and Meridian in Newton where one person was shot and whether that incident could be connected to the shooting at Excel Industries.
Witnesses have described a suspect vehicle as a gray and red pickup truck. A little before 5:30 p.m., dispatchers indicated a suspect had been disabled. We are working to confirm this information.
Shortly after the shooting, Eyewitness News spoke with a woman from Mid Kansas Family Practice near Excel Industries.
The woman said an injured woman ran to the facility from Excel for help and the office was locked down. The woman at Mid Kansas Family Practice did not confirm if the woman from Excel had been shot.
