Greensboro, NC – On January, 21, 2016, Robert Bernard Jackson, 34, and Charles William Willis, 27, were arrested Thursday morning in Baltimore, Maryland by members of the U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (CARFTF). On January 8, 2016, warrants were issued for Jackson and WIllis by the Durham Police Department for Murder, Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.
On December 19, 2015, at approximately 7:00 PM, three male suspects walked into and robbed the Buy Quick Convenience store located at 419 South Briggs Avenue in Durham. Per authorities, two of the male suspects were identified as Charles Willis and Nicholas Bell. The third suspect involved was wearing a mask and was later identified as Robert Jackson. It is alleged that Jackson shot the store clerk, Mohamed Thaber Shoufar, 58, upon entry into the store and then robbed the store of seventy-five dollars. Shoufar was immediately transported via ambulance to the Hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries. Additionally, Jackson and Willis were charged with the murder of Nicholas Bell that occurred on January 3, 2016, in Durham.
During the investigation the U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force (JFTF) out of Greensboro developed information that Jackson and Willis fled to Baltimore in an attempt to elude arrest. The JFTF requested the assistance of the CARFTF in the apprehension of Jackson and Willis. Their efforts paid off when the CARTFF verified the information provided by the JFTF and apprehended the fugitives without incident. The CARTFF arrested Willis in the 1100 block of Bolton Street and Jackson in the vicinity of the 2800 block of Alameda in Baltimore. Jackson and Willis are currently being held without bond on the alleged charges and are awaiting extraction back to North Carolina.
The U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force for the Middle District of North Carolina is comprised of investigators from the U.S. Marshals Service, Immigration Customs and Enforcement, Chapel Hill Police Department, Durham Police Department, Greensboro Police Department, High Point Police Department, Winston-Salem Police Department, Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Orange County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, Department of Community Corrections – Probation & Parole.
