SWIFT Task Force Arrests New Mexico’s Most Wanted

Clayton, NM – Deputy U.S. Marshals assigned to the U.S. Marshals Service South West Investigative Fugitive Team (SWIFT) Task Force arrested fugitive Edward Jacobs, 35.
Jacobs was wanted by the Clayton Police Department for being a felon in possession of a firearm, aggravated fleeing from law enforcement, resisting and trafficking methamphetamine. The United States Marshals Service offered up to a $1,000.00 dollar reward for information that led to the apprehension of Jacobs but in the end the media contributed to the apprehension of this dangerous fugitive by publicizing the danger that this fugitive posed to the community.
Due to surveillance by Deputy U.S. Marshals and extensive law enforcement networking, Jacobs was tracked down across multiple local jurisdictions and safely apprehended. Jacobs was located and arrested on the in the 200 block of Adams St in Clayton, NM. U.S. Marshals Service K-9 “Ave” and her Deputy U.S. Marshal Handler located and retrieved a loaded handgun from the residence in which Jacobs was hiding. Pending further investigation Jacobs could be facing additional criminal charges. The SWIFT Task Force Officers involved in the fugitive investigation and arrest represent the Bernalillo County Sherriff’s Office, ICE, NM Probation and Parole STIU, NM State Police, and the U.S. Marshal’s Service.
United States Marshal Conrad E. Candelaria said, “The arrest of this dangerous fugitive is a testament of the Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force to relentlessly exhaust every resource available, follow-up on every investigative lead and engage in countless hours of filed work and surveillance to accomplish the arrest. Our communities are safer because this dangerous fugitive is no longer an absconder of justice.”
