The Pinterest Challenge is ON again!  Young House Love, Bower Power, Hi Sugarplum & The Great Indoors are hosting their seasonal Pinterest Challenge tomorrow & as soon as I heard I shouted I’M IN!  Ok, no I didn’t, but I thought that… in my head… yep.  But then I had to decide what I wanted to do.  So I spent some time hanging out on my boards- something I don’t do every day, to pick something out.  But every time I thought I decided on something, another similar thing would catch my eye & I’d think, but what about that one!?!?  So, because I’m completely indecisive, I decided to go ahead & do a bunch of things, but base them on one topic- headbands!

Over the weekend, I made 8 different kinds of headbands, all based off ones I’m sure you’ve probably seen on Pinterest at one time or another.  I only picked headbands that don’t require sewing, since I still don’t have a sewing machine & I didn’t feel like sewing by hand.  If any of the instructions in the links say to sew something (I can only think of one that does) know that I didn’t sew, I hot-glued… the cure for everything is hot-glue yep.  All the pictures I’m going to show you are of the headbands I made, and all the links take you to the original headband tutorial that I had pinned.

#1 Ribbon Bow Headband
This one is found on Miss Priss. She did hers on an old broken mettle headband, I just made my bow & attached it to an elastic headband.  I did use the measurements that she gives for the bow though, & they worked out great!

#2 Double Strand Lace Headband
This headband has quite the following on Pinterest.  It’s originally by Elisa McLaughlin Designs.  After I pinned it, 40 others re-pinned my pin within an hour.  There’s tons of them pinned with well over 200 re-pins on them too, so I had to make this one.  Plus I LOVE lace & it’s so pretty.  She tells you in her tutorial to sew your lace to an elastic, and I totally didn’t.  I used two little hair ties- I use tiny hair bands because my hair is so fine- and cut a little extra lace than she recommends so that I could fold the lace around the band & hot glue.  See my picture if that’s confusing.

#3 The Knotted Headband
Honestly, I think this is my favorite.  It’s a crocheted knotted headband by You Seriously Made That?  I was a little skeptical at first that mine would turn out, but it did & it’s lovely! I made mine with white baby yarn leftover from the baby afghan & other baby projects.  All you need to know is how to crochet a chain & you’re golden.  The knot took me a few tries to get right, but she does a really good job of explaining it.

#4 Feather Headband
The feather headband is from Martha Stewart’s tutorial.   I got a big bag of feathers from JoAnn’s Fabric & didn’t nearly use all of them.  Once I had all my feathers & position & glued together, I glued the whole thing to a piece of grey felt.  Then I attached it to a mettle headband with another piece of felt, and added a little charm to the bottom.  I’ve been wanting one of these for a while, and I love how it turned out.  I was pretty nervous about doing this one, considering I bought the feathers months ago & have been putting it off because I was scared of the feathers attacking me (or something).

#5 Multi Rolled-Flower Headband
These are everywhere, but I pretty much followed the tutorial on Vixen Made.  Once I made the three flowers, I glued them all together to another piece of felt & attached that to a hair clip.  I like putting things like this on clips because then I can wear them without a headband, or I can attach them to a headband.  Or I can stick them on crocheted hats!  See, versatility!

#6 Fabric Button Flowers Headband
I found this tutorial pretty recently.  Have you seen these by Scattered Thoughts of a Crafty Mom? A totally different way of making flowers.  I made some for my cousin’s baby cocoon as well.  But these ones, I stuck on a hair clip to be worn alone or with a headband.

#7 Multi-Fabric Rolled Flower Headband
This is really just like the flowers I did for the multi-flowered headband, but this one I used two different fabrics in.  There’s another great tutorial for these on Flourishes.  One fabric here is a gold satin & the other is a pinkish-peachy chiffon.  I love these flowers & they seem to be everywhere!  This one is also on a clip, so it can be used in various ways.  It could also be thrown on a necklace or belt or bracelet… really anywhere!

#8 Ruffle Ribbon Headband
I looove this one too.  I got this ruffle headband tutorial from Heart of Light.  Mine is probably twice as wide hers, so I used rows of little ruffle squares on mine, where it looks like she just applied one after another down the ribbon.  Also, I used a different color ribbon for the base as for the ruffle, where her ruffle fabric & ribbon are a very close match, but the concept is the same.  Also, she has you sewing your ruffles to the band, and I hot glued them.  It turned out great with the glue as well!  See?

I totally should be a headband supermodel don’t you think?
