{Moody Blue Antique Vanity/Dressing Table} – Before & After

Im super bummed that i cant find a before pic of this vanity!  Im normally pretty good at getting the before pics, i searched high and low and nothing to be found.  Sorry!

But, im sure you can imagine the old brown stain that this was covered in making it look old – and not in a good way…

I gave the vanity a light sand just to smooth everything out, the tops were sanded down completely for some fresh stain.  The stain i used on this piece was my homemade concoction of vinegar and steel wool that i talked about here.  Every wood takes this solution differently – this is by far the favorite color i have gotten with my mixture.

All those little dots in the wood that you can see in the pic below just showed up when i stained it – i loved the look!

To distress the piece i used cabinet scrapers, i talked about those here.  After it was distressed i glazed it, i talked about one way to glaze in this post.

 After it was all painted and distressed, i clear coated everything in a satin finish.

The knobs are all the originals, i just didnt paint them.

I really love the way this piece turned out, the color is one of my favorites and i have used it on so many pieces since.
