WIP: The List

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

This is my year of the Work In Progress. I set a goal in January to finish up all outstanding projects before I start any brand new quilts. With over 10 projects in the works at the end of 2012 I was a bit overwhelmed. Quilts that I had started over 2 year ago are still waiting to be finished. I gave myself a June deadline to work on WIP quilts only; it just felt like the right thing to do.
All the WIP quilts were getting me down. Unfinished projects have been clouding my head and my sense of time. With so many hours invested in these quilts I am getting a better feel for how long it takes to complete a project. The time spent sewing these quilts takes me away from my family, friends and other endeavors I want for my life.  I had to get a handle on my WIP list for my own creative sanity.
So now the list is down to these. Just a hand full of quilts but still it will probably take me all year to finish them. I am okay with that. Unhurried quilt progress. Small steps over time add up to finished quilts and fulfilled goals. I can be patient for that.

First priority: Quilting charity top for PMQG
Still piecing flying geese for Baby Js quilt
Three blocks to go and then a quilt back for Scrappy Rainbow Log Cabin
Quilt Back fabric for Vintage Value Quilt
Vintage Value quilt top needs to be reworked. It’s too big and some blocks just don’t work.
Seam Ripper is my friend.
Scrappy X + quilt. Pieces need to be cut and then blocks sewn. Not a high priority.
Fun sampler blocks, one set for me, one set for Grandma. That needs to be done by Christmas.

Counting these out I have SEVEN left to complete. SEVEN, 7, (3+4). Oh my, I hadn’t allowed myself to count them for a while. Letting that sink in.
Okay, so don’t get me wrong. I love sewing. I really love finishing a quilt. I enjoy working on my skills; getting better at piecing, quilting and staying on task. These are good things for my Character, right?
What are you working on? Do you have a major quilt WIP que? What do you do to stay focused? Do you even mind the stack of lingering quilts in different stages of completion? Help! Give me some insight and encouragement ladies ;-)
Cheers!
Kelly
