Brooklyn with a 3 year-old

I hope everyone had a great long weekend! We spent most of it in Charlottetown, PEI, celebrating at our friends’ wedding (congrats guys!). I’ve been posting very little about our house and lots about our travels lately, but I guess that’s a reflection of how we’ve spent our summer (and I have the weeds in my flower beds to prove it). Anyway, I wanted to share some photos from our time in Brooklyn, the second stop on our trip, so here we go. More details on our visit at the end of this post!

Adam spent five days of our vacation working in a studio in Brooklyn. It’s actually the reason our summer vacation went from a simple trip to visit family in Wisconsin to a multi-state adventure (I regret nothing). Hannah and I joined Adam in Brooklyn mid-week, via a four-hour train ride from Boston (she was psyched).
Travelling by train is awesome, especially with little kids. You can arrive shortly before your train leaves, the seats are actually spacious, and you can move around the train as you please for the entire ride. I brought toys, books, and the iPad to keep Hannah entertained, but we also killed time with a trip to the snack car and a few bathroom visits (she thought the train’s bathroom was the coolest thing ever).
We rented an apartment in Brooklyn’s Greenpoint neighbourhood, which worked out really well. Our location was perfect (close to the studio for Adam, and right between McCarren Park and Monsignor McGlorick Park for Hannah and me), and having two bedrooms (and a living room! and a kitchen!) made it easier to stick to our normal nap and bedtime routines. We spent one morning in Manhattan visiting the Central Park Zoo, but we otherwise stuck around Greenpoint and Williamsburg, hanging at the park and eating lots of great food (Peter Pan donuts, tacos at Zona Rosa, and the most amazing wood-fired pizza at Paulie Gee’s, to name a few examples). So yeah, we can’t wait to go back.
