Noise in Alaska...silence in Arkansas
As you can see from the quake map above, the state of Alaska and many islands off it’s coast have been getting a large helping of small quake activity during the past week. Almost all of them well under 4.0 in severity, but since the Japanese mega-quake…the Pacific Ring of Fire continues to present more and more signs that it’s waking up from a long nap. Hopefully these swarms are merely results of normal activity or perhaps leftover affects from the Japan quake. Only time will tell.
Meanwhile, in Arkansas, where a previous series of swarms [large groupings of small quakes] have been plaguing the area around Greenbrier…a strange silence has fallen since April 1st. Almost as if the switch has been flicked, there have been no recordable tremors for over 3 days now. And some residents are starting to ask whether this might be a result of the state’s halting of fraking in the area. Again, time will tell I suppose.

ive been watching the earthquakes on google earth a long time and thats normal in the area
this post in not true. Greenbriar has had and is getting daily EQ’s 3 or 4 a day non stop. Why the disinformation on Greenbrier???? TELL THE TRUTH!!!!!!
It is not the fracking that has stopped in the Greenbrier area but two of the deep injection wells.
The last earthquake in the area was on 31 March, a 2.0, 3 mi. NE of Greenbrier. This is easily verified on the USGSA web site. http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsus/Quakes/quakes_all.php
The quakes have steadily subsided since the two wells were hut down.
First, the story about the Arctic ozone hole and the threat of increased UV’s, now this.

To the angry person who called me a liar…hate to break it to you but I actually live in the Greenbriar area. And why would I lie? That’s beyond even requiring a response. And I didn’t say there was absolutely no movement…I said “no recordable tremors” – meaning quite simply, the USGS has not recorded any movement of significant value. Please learn to read and try being less obnoxious when you have no clue what you’re talking about in the first place.
And to “Eleven” I believe there’s a posting date at the top of every single article that posts on this site. I didn’t feel it necessary to be redundant. And the source is the image, it’s from Google Earth / USGS earthquake plugin. Again, I didn’t want to be a redundant moron. That term has been applicable here enough I think.
It’s normal for california 2 hav earthquakes, but Cali is being hit pretty hard 4 the last few days.
