CUSEC coordinates a similar drill across nine Central U.S. states, which had more than 2.4 million participants in February, 2012.

We expect the government to come to our aide when a disaster strikes. To do this, they must be prepared…and this means doing drills and having a plan in place for various possible scenarios. Each of us should do this on a personal and family level.
Preparedness does not mean that the government is expecting a specific disaster though. Disasters can come in many different forms and are typically a surprise. The US had become very complacent about disaster preparedness since the end of the Cold War. 911 and Katrina reminded us that disasters, whether manmade or natural have, and will continue to happen. We need to be as prepared as possible as individuals, cities, counties, states, and as a nation for the inevitable.
We should be afraid that we are not prepared rather than that we are preparing.
I participated in an emergency exersise in wv a few years ago,i didnt see anything sinister about it,soldiers were being trained on how to handle large emergency situations with physically,psycological,imjuries.I was proud to participate in helping those young people learn their jobs.Sorry for spellin errors early in morning.

Recent facts have shown it is safer to get next to a large heavy object rather than under it so it supports the weight of debris while crushed and you survive in the pocket next to it. probably to die of dehydration slowly in the following days as no one to get you out….
