Tropical Cyclone 03B formed in Bay of Bengal
According to latest report by Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC), Tropical Cyclone 03B is located approximately 400 nm east-
northeast of Chennai, India. The system is moving southwestward at 07 knots over the past six hours. Recent animated infrared satellite imagery continues to show a lack deep central convection over a fully exposed but well defined low level circulation center (LLCC).
Dry air continues to wrap towards the center of the system. Upper level analysis indicates TC 03B is located to the north of a subtropical ridge axis in an area of strong (20-30 knots) vertical wind shear.
Dynamic model guidance remains in a tight grouping with a west-southwestward track. System’s forecasted intensity remains in a steady state forecast for the next 36 hours, with dissipation by period of 48 hours as the system succumbs to the high vertical wind shear and the dry air entrainment.
According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), moderate rainfall would occur at many places over south coastal Andhra Pradesh, north coastal Tamilnadu and Puducherry on November 20/21, with isolated heavy rainfall on November 21. Sea condition along and off Andhra Pradesh coast will be rough to very rough during next 48 hours. Fishermen along Andhra Pradesh coast are advised not to venture into sea during next 48 hours. Fishermen along north Tamil Nadu and Puduchery coast are advised to be cautious while venturing into sea during same period.
