La. Sinkhole Cavern Dropped 152 Feet after Burp, Seismic Activity, More Hydrocarbons
After intensified quake activity over the past few days and another “burp” and hydrocarbon leak Thursday night at the monster Louisiana Sinkhole disaster site, Assumption Parish officials have advised Saturday morning that Texas Brine LLC’s failing storage cavern, inside Napoleonville Salt Dome, has dropped another 152 feet.
“Texas Brine has reported the floor of Oxy Cavern 3 has gone down to a level of 3,945′ which is 152′ deeper than last week’s measurement,” parish officials reported Saturday.
The officials say that it is still unknown “why this is occurring.”
This alert follows the parish advising that the monster had yet again “burped,” with intensified seismic activity and a release of more hydrocarbons Thursday night.
“Additional hydrocarbons are present in the sinkhole as a result of the burp that happened last night. Also noted, seismic activity has been active for the last few days,” parish officials reported just after noon on Friday.
