Quake Hits California, 'Sounded Like A Bomb'
A very shallow 4.4-magnitude earthquake hit Southern California early Wednesday morning, that “sounded like a bomb.” There were multiple aftershocks.
“One Riverside resident said the earthquake “sounded like a bomb going off,” ABC reports.
The quake struck at 1:35 a.m. about three miles north of Fontana and five miles west of Rialto in San Bernardino County, according to the U.S. Geological Survery (USGS).
The USGS said the quake was extremely shallow, just over three miles deep.
Multple aftershocks were reported within minutes after the initial earthquake, according to USGS. The largest aftershock was at 2:07 a.m, a 2.3-magnitude.
“I just felt the house kind of rocking back and forth like it was on shock absorbers. It only lasted about five seconds. It sounded like a bomb going off, and the house just started rocking,” Riverside resident Jeff Pracht said.
No immediate reports of injuries or significant damage have been provided.
The temblor, however, was felt across a large region, including even as far as Santa Monica, 65 miles west of the earthquake’s epicenter. Fontana, Rancho Cucamonga, Hacienda Heights, Ontario, San Bernardino, Downey were also rattled.

You have a great point. My heart actually beats harder when the haarp is going. I lived 3 blocks from one being built on RAF Feltwell in 92, they had me on meds by the time I left that base in 94. I used to work in a law office off base. Within 2 wks of that monstrosity being completed. I was could only type 20wpm w/out mistakes and my boss was worried how bad I was shaking when I would bring his coffee to him. A gal whose daughter went to first year with my son in Thetford, Norfolk, originally was going to work on the haarp project as she had just gotten her degree in aerospace technology. When I asked her why she changed her mind, she said her father who was also into aerospace technology said to stay away from it. Her husband, a pilot made enough money, so she just enjoyed the beautiful scenery and traveled. She couldn’t tell me much. I refused to drived out that gate. My ex and I were curious about a pig farm outside a Lakenheath gate. I now know that was actually an array to the glober on Feltwell. Little domes perfectly spaced a part, with a few pigs and a lot of electric fence when we got close. I would listen to a radio station on the weekends, but after the dome/globe was totally erect, all I could get was weird, almost alien sounding noises. The whole thing was creepy when I didn’t realize what was going on. When my heart is pounding, it usually turns out they are doing something.
Very interesting. Occasionally, when listening to the radio, especially the AM station where I live, weird sounding noises can be heard. Let’s add this to the situation. Russian military scientists have stated that high pressure systems, like the one near Iceland, can cause pressure on the earth over which they are located. This high pressure system is being blamed for the present “drought” in California. Russian and American scientists have concurred that these high pressure systems can, indeed, induce seismic activity, i.e., earthquakes leading to landslides. Wasn’t there a landslide that occurred to a portion of the coast highway along the Baja recently which was posted on this website? Yep. And now there’s been an 4.5 earthquake near Fontana, CA?

Saw the date on this too but, their warnings are still in effect. What’s important is that there IS a high pressure system that has been dominating the west coast of the US for quite a few weeks now and there is no precipitation forecast for the next 10 days. Snow pack in the Sierras is minimal, at best. Drought conditions are worsening in south/central CA. Water levels in reservoirs that supply water to the LA Basin and Las Vegas areas are already low. Residents in these areas are being asked to conserve water by taking short showers, running dishwasher only when full, and other measures. Red flag warnings have been up for the LA Basin area for awhile now, and this is the middle of winter! A landslide took out a portion of the highway that runs along the Pacific Ocean side of the Baja peninsula and a 4.5 earthquake occurred this morning near Fontana, CA.

Depending on where one was when they experienced this “earthquake” this morning has a great deal to do with perceptions of this event. Speaking of earthquakes, and the continued “high pressure” over the west/southwest, a 3.1 earthquake was recorded off the Oregon coast and a 2.0 was recorded in southern Nevada today. New water use restrictions are now being implemented in CA. Red flag warnings are up in many locations. California is in the process of starting a new 25 billion dollar project to bring water from the Sacramento Delta down to the southern part of the state in order to attempt to alleviate the extreme drought conditions that now exist. Problem is there is only an 8% of normal snow pack in the Sierra’s right now, and there has been less than 2 inches of rain in the valley in all of 2013. Hard to supply water if there is little, or no, water to begin with. Lake Tahoe is extremely low for this time of year also. Could be a “disaster” in the making.

California earthquakes often sound like booms as if something really big just dropped. It is probably related to how the earthquake happened to occur.
In San Diego, the Northridge Quake sounded like a locomotive heading our way until POW! the shock hit and shook the house like something chained. Then it sounded like a locomotive leaving to the south.
