The bible is God’s personal instruction book to us as His creation. He has told us everything we need to live by and the things we need to do in this life; all in the bible. What He DOESN’T tell us in His word is that we should stock up on endless supplies of food, water and other life essentials. Not a single page in the written word of God does it say that a Christian who trusts in God should do such things, in fact, He tells us THE OPPOSITE!

He said to His disciples and apostles that if they wanted to follow Him, they should leave EVERYTHING behind and FOLLOW HIM. That still holds true today. If we are in Christ, we are COMPLETE and need NOTHING. Sure, I have a place to live and a car to drive but I don’t desire another because I am perfectly CONTENT with what I have been given. I am wealthier than someone in a million dollar mansion because I am happy with my 160 thousand house, have been for 15 years now yet the one who loves big houses and loves to show them off is NEVER content.

If we get our treasure from God and desire the things that He wants for us, then we are COMPLETE in Him. We need nothing else. What a perfect place of peace and happiness.

Don’t you trust in Him? Don’t you believe He will help you and show you how to have everything you need to survive? I have been reading the bible everyday for the last two decades (more or less) and the more I understand about Him, the more I am learning to trust less in myself and to rely on Him for EVERYTHING. IF we are walking with Him daily, He will see to it that we get what we need. (of how much greater value are we than birds yet one of them doesn’t fall without Him knowing?) Do you have a need? ASK. Are you feeling that something necessary isn’t being supplied by Him, ASK FOR IT!

I have seen Him move people, cars, even alter the weather! He miraculously stopped a tree from crushing my house as a storm came from nowhere one spring and I dropped to my knees begging Him for protection. I heard a large crash on the side of my house and when I was able to look, a big Poplar tree just feet from my house snapped in half and by all laws of physics SHOULD HAVE come crashing into my living room but there it lay harmlessly at my feet, messing up my yard!

Now, I’m not suggesting that someone who lives in Tornado Alley not have a storm shelter (I for one, wouldn’t live there, I would move) if they must live there, it wouldn’t be against His word to have one, in fact, if He wanted you to live there, He would help you acquire the means to build one!! I am not talking about TEMPTING the Lord.

It could come down to our attitude toward Him, for example, one might have the attitude that God will protect them no matter what and be careless in his driving habits or some other risky behavior, no, I don’t recommend that. I am referring to a Christian who KNOWS they are right with Him and walking in His statutes and precepts on a monthly and yearly basis and they put Him FIRST.

That is what a Christian is by the way, not someone who mumbles a few words at an alter call some Sunday and goes away thinking it is okay to sin like the devil because no matter what they do, they can’t be lost. (I believe in eternal salvation; these people were NEVER saved so they didn’t LOSE anything) Someone like that is probably not saved because in God’s word He says that we will know them by their WORKS.

Not “saved by works” but we will KNOW them because they have the Holy Spirit leading them in their daily lives. Mumbling some words and phrases that you repeat after some youth pastor and then going out and drinking, fornicating and getting new tattoos is NOT being regenerated by the Spirit and renewed in the mind having a desire to serve God.

Be careful of those kind of churches that are pumping out “saved” people who come to church wearing the same kind of clothes the world wears, listening to the music, and watching the same movies and TV that the world watches. What benefit are they to God? He will cause us to work AFTER we are saved. Okay, I got off the subject a bit, let’s reel it back in…

He wants us to trust Him and it pleases Him that we are so faithful yet so many Christians DON’T completely rely on Him. Don’t they believe what He says in His word, the King James Bible? Now for some, it may be that they are asking yet not receiving yet once again, all we need to do is look to His word. He said of things that are necessary yet held back: “Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.” James 4:3 They ask based on their own selfish desires and not in faith.

I am so amazed at how many Christians today in these end times (in which they should know the order of events and not be worried or scared) who are stockpiling goods and building shelters…what gives, Christian? Try trusting in God or else try examining yourself whether or not you are in the faith! 2 Corinthians 13:5
