American Education is nothing more than Job Justification

The American Education System,  or lack thereof I should say. Do we even have one left?  It should be called the job justification system now.

Last week I was called into the school to speak about one of my sons. As every mother knows each of our children are unique, not one is alike. One of my sons plays football and is very popular with his friends. Good for him!

However my other son is very different. He is brilliant and his mind is constantly busy. This is a child that can tell you about gases in the Universe which create all those beautiful colors we see in space pictures. He is also the same child who will sit endlessly and watch You tube Videos on science, conjoined twins, medical breakthroughs and technology for the future. However, he was also the one I was called into the school about.

I WALKED INTO A MEETING OVER MY SON, WITH A PANEL OF 7 TEACHERS LAST WEEK.

There was the: School Social Worker, Phys Ed Teacher, County Board Administrator, Vice Principal, Special Needs Teacher, My Son’s Teacher and the Math Tudor. Wow, with that many people you would think, my son must be a very important student!

I sit down and start hearing all the comments from the school: My son is too emotional, he isn’t concentrating enough, he gets frustrated a lot, he wonders off in class, I can’t get him to do the work unless I sit with him; finally, the one that really got to me….There must be a reason why he is behaving like this.

I LISTENED AND SMILED AND THEN I ASKED THEM ALL THE VERY IMPORTANT QUESTIONS AND PUT IT RIGHT BACK ON EACH OF THEM:

(Please note that each question I asked the board, got a resounding NO and you could have heard a pin drop in the room, after I had asked all my own questions.)

Let me show you how very little, the school knows about my child. I am not the only one here either, many other parents will be able to relate to this blog.

My Question 1: Have any of you, ever asked my son what he wants to do or be, when he grows up? (The Board all looked at each other, whispered to the other, and then nodded their heads…NO back at me.)

Answer: How does a teacher know their student, if they do not even know the child’s dreams when they grow up? My teachers all asked me that when I was younger. My son wants to find a way to bring world peace, with the use of science and technology that will benefit humanity and not create anymore wars and disease.

School Comment Back: Well he will need mathematics and writing for that now, won’t he?

My Comment: I agree with you but wasn’t Einstein himself a child who had problems relating in school too, and yet he became the amazing genius we all know well?

Didn’t also Mozart write his first concerto at five years of age and he didn’t have all that math and writing at his age either. Exactly who’s writing and math are we speaking of here? The school education standards designed by whom?

The board started to write down notes furiously on their clip boards, to my comments.

What the American Government says my child needs, because the last time I looked, the education in American schools is about 40 something in the world right now. 

I was born and raised in Australia and the education system is ranked in the top 15 in the world, I looked on the internet and Australia was ranked between 8 to 13.

So who’s education system are we discussing here, because if we are talking the American System, then I can absolutely see why you think my son is failing. I agree wholeheartedly with you all, on this basis of education standards. Oops a pin dropped moment, with forced smiles from the board.

I continued to the board: This school system says my son is failing based on what curriculum? I cannot even help my own son with math homework. The way children are being taught in American schools, is so difficult and complex. However the old fashioned way I learned math, is somehow wrong?

I learned you put the number down and carried the remainder over to the next column. My son says I have to pretty much play twister, to get to the answer and then write it all down. Please expand my own mind, so that I can understand this way of learning now. My point is, if an adult doesn’t get it, then how do you expect our children to know better?

Another pin dropped moment in the room. Do you think I was too hard on them? Pleaaassee, I hadn’t even started.

My Question 2: Do you know what my son loves to do at home? Do any of you know the chemicals which make up the gases in the universe? The same gases that create all those beautiful colors we see in the birth and death of star systems? Does anyone know the name of the oldest conjoined twins in the world? Do you know how much wind power it takes to generate enough electricity to become self sufficient?…I got a big resounding NO to each question from the school board.

Answer: Well maybe you all should ask my son sometime, because he knows all those answers.

Now that was awkward wasn’t it and red faces all around on the board. Oh, did I mention I just kept smiling and asking these questions in a calm and quiet way?

Now here comes the Social Worker with a comeback. She is all of maybe 28 years of age, with how many life experiences under her belt?

Social Workers Comments: According to our assessments Mrs.Kelley your son is working below the accepted requirements in our system. There has to be a reason why your son is so emotional as well.

NOW I ABSOLUTELY KNEW THIS WAS MORE THAN JUST ABOUT EDUCATION, I WAS NOW BEING PROBED TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANYTHING WRONG IN MY HOME TOO.

The Social worker went on about how she was asked a series of questions in college about underlying problems and it helped her immensely to resolve her issues. So in other words in her head; there must be an underlying problem with my son that we haven’t really thought about yet.

My comment back: Miss So-and-So, neither my husband or I, are uneducated people. I am a writer and a published author. My husband has a background in Psychology and his Masters is in children.  We are very aware of our son’s emotions and who better than the parents, wouldn’t you agree?

I am glad that your college education helped you resolve your own issues, but my husband is a good and loving father who uses his own higher educational background to help our son.

Both my husband and I also believe that our son’s behavior can also be traced back to his Measles,Mumps, Rubella shot that he was given at 15 months of age. 2 days after our son received that shot he not only had a very high fever, but he started rocking back and forth and banging his head on the floor.

SO YES I AGREE WITH YOU, THERE IS A REASON FOR HIS EMOTIONAL OUTBURSTS. IT IS CALLED IMMUNIZATION AND THIS IS THE LONG TERMED EFFECTS ON OUR CHILDREN’S BEHAVIORS.

My husband and I both teach our children positive and happy thoughts, will always come back to you. We teach our children how to relax and even calmness through meditation. We do things as a family always and we love and honor our children. So please explain to me, why am I really here answering all your questions?

So far you have not given me as a mother and a concerned parent, anything I feel satisfied with towards the education of my son in our school system.

More clipboard notes being written. Again you could have heard a pin drop and Miss social workers face even had a tinge of annoyance on it plus my husband’s education outdid her own.

THEN THE GRAND FINALE  FROM THE PHYS ED TEACHER

Is your son on any medications that could help his emotions? Did he ever go to the doctor after this immunization, (you say) affected him? …I say?

My Comment: I would never put anymore poison like that into my son’s body again. Drugs do not fix the problem, they just dope children up. It is more of a convenience issue than a problem fixer. After everything we have been through with immunizations, it is not even something I would consider.

Yes, Mr So-And-So, we did take our son to the doctor numerous times and they wanted to say, my son has ADHD. Boys are more likely to be affected with this disorder after vaccines too.

However if you go to any government site about vaccines and disorders in our children, these sites will deny any links to these behaviors whatsoever.

Yet how can anyone confuse this behavior, and what we as parents saw with our own eyes?  This was a definite physical change on our son, at 15 months of age.

BY THIS POINT, 2 OF THE BOARD MEMBERS (THE PHYS ED TEACHER AND THE MATH TUDOR) GOT UP AND LEFT THE ROOM.

I knew at that point the interrogation was over and my opinions were not exactly what the board wanted to hear. I was not compliant and obedient. I was not a push over and would not agree to any of their nonsense on my child’s education.

I did not sign anything on the school’s clipboards, nor did I agree to anything further.

The social worker wanted to have one on one time with my son, to help him work through his emotional issues. This raised a BIG RED FLAG for me. Basically what the board was saying to me, they did not believe that my son has been affected by vaccines.

It had to be something else… Of course that justifies everything in the propaganda department of Education.

An admission to vaccines from anyone in the School Board affecting our children, could mean no more job justification; someone might actually be out of a job. Imagine that.

Could it also be, that our teachers must like good little soldiers, defend the almighty government’s education agenda, so that they continue to get paid?

WHY AM I RELAYING THIS PERSONAL EXPERIENCE TO YOU?

Because our American education system is not about educating our children, at this time. It is about job justification and finding a way to blame parents and other people for the miserable job our schools, are actually doing towards our children’s future.

If you believe that your child can get a better education at home; you are probably right. I am not saying there are no good teachers left to teach, but their hands are so tied up, by all this nonsense and bureaucratic brain washing.

Paperwork and clipboards seem to justify School Social Workers, Special Educational Needs Teachers, and County Board Decision Makers, jobs now. If they didn’t probe you the way they do, then they wouldn’t have a job…period.

For myself and my family, home schooling is what we are going to favor and seriously look into. I am done having to answer another school board meeting like that again. Who will be next to investigate my family? Where will it end?

How much control should the Government have in your life and that of your child, because they think you are too stupid to know better. The school board obviously does NOT know your child better than YOU do. I just proved that, with the questions I asked back to the school, whom I was interviewed by. They know pretty much nothing about my beautiful son and my family.

How much do they really know about your child too?
