Disability Rolls Skyrocket As DEA Restricts Legal Pain Meds

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

by Monica Davis

Here we go: again. The infamous War Against Drugs and its two-fold strike against honest Americans: restricting pain meds to people in chronic pain and driving those people out of the workforce and on to the disability rolls.

As the pressure on pain doctors increases, fewer people in chronic pain get meds. Many of them are unable to work or function without their meds. Functioning, in many cases means WORKING.

Social Security Disability is a hot spot for many alleged conservatives, who view the program as a haven for lazy and/or drug addicted people who will not, but can work. Reality is: there is abuse, but some pain clinics are life savers.

One blog reader says, “I know people who could not work if it weren’t for their pain medications. They would have zero quality of life otherwise. Expect the disability rolls to skyrocket if these meds are further restricted.”

Now we are creating a dangerous, escape-proof vicious circle: people in chronic pain can’t work because of their pain, and they can’t get their pain medications because of the crackdown on pain clinics–which makes legitimate pain doctors fearful of dispensing legitimate meds.

All of this hurts people, literally. Those with legitimate chronic pain now have difficulty finding doctors who will prescribe medication at levels high enough to mitigate their pain. And the situation is compounded by crooks who use pain clinics as a way to push drugs legally.

Just a few days after a new state law went into effect to crack down on Kentucky’s increasing problem with prescription drug abuse, four “pain management clinics” already have notified the state that they cannot comply with it and will close, Gov. Steve Beshear said Tuesday. MOREHERE

The pill poppers and potheads ruined this one. Oxy and weed retailed at ‘pain management’ clinics.

      This story just “infuriates” me.
It shows that “legislation/laws” don’t allow room for “common sense”.
I have a close friend, who has a “neurological” disease, uses “opiate” pain killers so she can live a “semi-normal” life, and she has to literally go through hell for her prescriptions.

There’s a big difference between those who use opiate pain killers because they have to, and those who use them for “recreational” purposes.
I have seen my friend in agony because of her painful disease, and if her prescription wasn’t written in the proper way, or fell on a holiday, or whatever, then her agony was increased because she couldn’t get her “script” refilled on time.

No “allowances”, no “excuses”, no “nothing”.

Right or wrong, it’s my opinion that this is just another way for our “tyrannical” Gov to control our lives even more’
      Just saying.

It’s more like clinics selling pain meds on the black market.

There are so MANY people that suffer with pain who still could work with the proper medications and pain care! With a poor economy and everything else, it seems that the US government doesn’t have brains in the right place.
With my organization, I know thousands of patients that have had to file disability needlessly!
I doubt they are worrying about the national debt! Addicts will just get another drug to abuse while innocent people are left suffering!! Where are MORALS??? People with cancer can’t get anything for pain either! The stats are utterly BS! The war on drugs is not fair to include legitimate pain patients!

I for one? Am in the process of achieving my SSDI, because I am not being treated for pain properly as I once was, BUT I do NOT want SSDI. I want to work!!. I am in the middle of studying to get my real estate license because I want to work! People in pain are NOT lazy but are forced to lay in bed, while there is medication that can help them function!

I am going to continue fighting for our rights to have effective and appropriate pain care to help stop this collateral damage the US has created against us. Won’t you join me?
