Operation American Spring (Sting)

First, do not get me wrong, the criticisms that General Riley has of the current corrupt batch of politicians in Washington are correct. However, his proposals, goals and stated overall mission –about how to deal with them- simply do not pass the smell test.

If you are not yet aware of Operation American Spring, you soon will be. Let me summarize it. In short, the retired US Army general has proposed and is organizing a march on Washington DC (May 16) to, 

“…assemble in a peaceful, non-violent, physically unarmed (Spiritually-Constitutionally armed), display of unswerving loyalty to the US Constitution and against the incumbent government leadership, in Washington, D.C., with the mission to bring down the existing leadership.”

It sounds like a reasonable, lawful action until you really consider the reality of the portion that I underlined. To understand why I am more than a little skeptical of what this action is really about, what the general actually intends to do, read on to the next section of his website given below in italics.

But first consider the title “Operation American Spring” the allusion to the ‘Arab Spring’ is not by accident. Also, the title is suggestive of a military action or at least the first stage of one. Having served in Viet Nam I know military jargon and attitudes. Now we read the following,

“One million or more of the assembled 10 million must be prepared to stay in D.C. as long as it takes to see Obama, Biden, Reid, McConnell, Boehner, Pelosi, and Attorney General Holder removed from office…”

Only one problem, sir, these people were lawfully elected (one appointed), to the political seats they occupy. How does this ‘non-violent’ protest suddenly turn into a means to force elected politicians out of office without the proscribed congressional and/or legal due processes?

Personally, I am no fan of any of the above office-holders. However, I am also no fan of thinly disguised coups. General Riley clearly states what the real mission of the operation is:  to occupy the nation’s capital, with millions of protesters, until the above-named politicians resign or are forced from office.

In fact, since they were elected by the American people, they can only be legally removed through congressional – and/or court hearings or trials – after being charged with crimes or gross misconduct violations.

To this observer I fear we are seeing some very misguided ideas and planned actions on the part of a frustrated military man (or men, the Christian Right and Tea Party supporters), whose main aim is political control by any means. Why do I say that?

How come this kind of heated rhetoric and call to action did not emerge when George Bush and his Congress enacted the Patriot Act, which did more to eviscerate the Constitution and Bill of Rights than all the previous several hundred years of legislation? (It did put a lot of power in the hands of the military by the way)

My concern is that Riley’s thinly disguised attempt at a coup is either 1) a trap or 2) is actually intended to provoke Martial Law.  Then his case against the tyranny he claims is rampant across the land will strengthen.

The general has spent his entire adult life as a soldier for (what many see as the real cause of our problems) the priorities of the Power Elite; the architects of the NWO, the Bilderbergers; they are really one and the same. Why should we believe that he has suddenly seen the light and become a champion of the people, the forgotten soldiers and the poor who usually fight our wars?

What I see is a military man through and through.  His statements are nothing but Brave New World double-speak. Consider if this was any other country and a military commander said he was going to lead a march to the nation’s capital to remove the president and many members of Congress from office. What do you expect would happen?

Probably a Ukraine (or you name it Syria/Venezuela type situation, no doubt). We all know the real world of politics versus a flotilla of fantasy words, platitudes and propaganda. Elected officials do not just step down because a group of passionate protesters refuse to be budged from whatever capital square they are occupying.

Riley is a seasoned veteran and full well knows what will happen if his called-for one million men do as he commands. There will be mass arrests and mass detentions, probably violence.  Now, you also have to read between the lines, recall that we are already under the Patriot Act, and then consider his next statement,

“Those with the principles of a West, Cruz, Dr. Ben Carson, Lee DeMint, Paul, Gov. Walker, Sessions,Gowdy, Jordan, should comprise a tribunal and assume positions of authority to convene investigations, recommend appropriate charges against politicians and government employees to the new U.S. Attorney General appointed by the new President.”

So now we are projected to the post-coup era and find that his favored (conservative Republican) politicians will be heading tribunals. If I may be so impertinent, sir, but what do you think the American people are going to be doing…the ones that elected these folks as all this unfolds?

Oh, lest I forget, how does the new President get into office? I hate to trouble you for little, trifling details but inquiring minds might want to know general. My hope is that General Riley recently lapsed into an early-stage bout of dementia…that he snaps back to his sharp, cogent-self and reality and cancels the planned May 16, Operation American Spring….
