Vulnerability continues for Governor Pence as his ideological agenda hurts the Hoosier middle class

INDIANAPOLIS – Governor Mike Pence’s election vulnerability continues as today’s analysis by GOVERNING Magazine moves the upcoming gubernatorial race from “Safe” to “Lean” Republican. This analysis piles on the backlash from the $250 million economic panic Pence created when he signed RFRA into law and an economic agenda that has expanded the wage gap and driven weekly wages 17.2 percent below the national average. No matter how you slice it, Gov. Pence’s ideological agenda is not just hurting the well-being of Indiana, but it places his political future (rightfully) in jeopardy.

“Governor Pence’s ideological agenda – one that caused a $250 million economic panic and one that has shrunk the Hoosier middle class – is damaging him where it hurts most: his political future,” said Drew Anderson, communications director for the Indiana Democratic Party. “Governor Pence can tout his sluggish economy all he wants, but the truth is, everyday Hoosiers are fed up with his out of touch policies that have divided our state and caused hardworking folks to make additional sacrifices just to make ends meet. Hoosiers know Democrats can do better than Mike Pence, and no propaganda sign on a side of a building is going to change that.”
