GOP Lawmaker Calls For ‘Purge’ Of FBI And DOJ

On the one hand this might, and I’m only going to say might, be a bad choice of words. On the other hand Rooney was clearly trolling MSNBC. His words had the desired effect.

And there is a problem with the “deep state.” That seems to be pretty clear at this point. It does appear to be working, at least in some instances, some high profile instances, for its interests and not necessarily the interests of the American people.

The bureaucracy clearly dislikes Trump. They don’t have control over him. Trump may choose to, gasp, start firing people in the deep state. And that ladies and gentlemen is just not OK. (With the deep state.) The bureaucracy is used to doing what it wants and just waiting out whoever is in nominal control. That is the bureaucratic way.

What many of the never Trumpers feared is that slowly, over time, Trump would gain traction despite the onslaught he has met from a media that dislikes him nearly as much as the deep state. (In many cases really they are one and the same.) They feared that with such traction Trump might actually be able to take them to task. That is why they have deployed the bureaucratic oil slick. Yet Trump has gained traction.

We remain open minded on the Trump/Russia thing. If there is any collusion we want to know about it. But at every turn the narrative, a narrative that coincidentally benefits the establishment and its allies, seems to fall apart. Over and over this has happened.

We will continue to watch things closely.

The thing is Congressman Rooney, shouldn’t have to say what he said. But things have gotten out of control down FBI way it sounds like. (And in other areas of official Washington.) And sadly Rooney is within bounds given developments.

A Republican lawmaker on Tuesday called for a “purge” of what he said are “deep state” elements within the FBI and Justice Department.

“I’m very concerned that the DOJ and the FBI, whether you call it deep state or what, are off the rails,” Florida Rep. Francis Rooney said in an contentious interview with MSNBC host Hallie Jackson.

Rooney expressed concern over what he said was evidence of anti-Trump bias within the law enforcement agencies. He cited the recent scandal involving anti-Trump and pro-Hillary Clinton text messages sent by Peter Strzok, an FBI agent who led both the Russia investigation and the Clinton email probe.

Rooney also pointed to the recent demotion of Bruce Ohr, a Justice Department official who met last year with Christopher Steele, the author of the infamous Trump dossier. Ohr also met after the election with Glenn Simpson, the founder of the opposition research firm that commissioned the dossier.
