Millennial Headhunter: Out of work millennials “lazy little s**ts”

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

His statement was made online after yet another screed from a “millennial” complaining about how getting a job is hard for millennials.

I actually think there is some truth to that, and it’s not fair to indict a whole swathe of a generation, but I think the headhunter, Josh Harrison, has a point too. I think way too many young people are entitled. Many think the world owes them a living. It doesn’t. And it certainly doesn’t owe anyone a good living.

There are jobs out there. (I can remember when they really weren’t.) Sometimes they aren’t the best jobs. But any job can be a dignified stepping stone to something better if one invests oneself in one’s efforts.

I say this as someone who has seen very lean times (as so many of us have). Of course many people have seen much harder times than I have, and I am thankful for the blessings that have come my way, but the lazy little s**ts critique has gotten the attention it has because it hits a little too close to home for some people.

(From News.com.au)

Mr Harrison, a headhunter from UK firm Harrison Allwood, made the comments in response to a LinkedIn post penned by entrepreneur Jack Parsons earlier this month.

Mr Parsons, 24, had shared his own story of unemployment and rejection, and said the UK’s job market was “broken” for young people.

But Mr Harrison, who is a millennial himself, responded by “calling bulls***” on Mr Parsons’ “poor us attitude”.

“I’ll tell you right now that it has never been easier for a young man/lady to find a reasonably well-paid job in this country and I’d go as far as to say regardless of qualifications, if you’re under the age of 25 and not in work without any good medical or mental health reason then you’re either a lazy little s*** or you’re setting your sights way too high,” he wrote.

Millennials, you know that there is serious truth here. And in fairness Generation X did a bit of this too. But then the Great Recession kicked us around a bit (a lot) and we (generationally speaking) got real.
