Word to The Wise

The consequential threat today is our own ignorance, apathy, and man’s inhumanity to man.and nature. The underlying question is why can’t nations whenever a dispute erupts threats are made which many times leads to violent confrontations? History is filled with episodes of violent confrontations between nations. It is as though man can’t find alternatives to resolve disputes and even disagreements. Armed aggression seems to be not the last resort.

If we would only heed what General Mac Arthur said, “If nations can’t find a peaceful means to settle disputes Armageddon will be right on our doorstep.” Apparently, his words have fallen on deaf ears ever since the end of World War II. Look what is actually happening around the world today.

Until such a time when technology avails itself for man to migrate to distant far-off worlds our planet is much too small for any nation to use military force against another nation without having other nations equally respond. Both world wars are prime examples. The world today is on the brink of one disaster after another caused by our ignorance, apathy and man’s inhumanity to man.

Much too often leaders of nations fail to recognize the consequences of the reactions by other nations when a crisis erupts. It could be natural disaster civil protest, or by a military intervention that causes many to react not knowing how others will respond. The crisis in Ukraine has brought about a host of other reactions by other nations. China and North Korea have made it known that by our support both military and financially have opened up a Pandora’s Box of what could be a chain reaction of retaliatory responses by China, Iran, and North Korea.

The violable nature of responses is in itself cause to reflect on what the hell has our foreign and domestic policies over the past four decades have actually done to the harmony of nations around the world. The United States would be wise to reconsider what we have done in the past so as to not induce more insanity upon the world.
