The Market Ticker - Did "The Tea Party" Just Awaken?

Occasionally, someone in the mainstream media wakes up and shows – in public – that they get it.

For four years I’ve been writing on economic and banking issues in an attempt to make them understandable.  It began with Washington Mutual and the clear bogus accounting and games that these institutions were playing, and I haven’t stopped since.

I get emails from people telling me that they have become “aware” all the time.  The start of my (and those from the forum, including Steph and Randy @ FedUpUSA) protests, including the first two on Wall Street and in front of the Canon Building, complete with professionally-filmed videos to hand out on DVD? 

All an attempt to awaken people from their slumber.

The petitions, The Market Ticker, the Tickerforum, the Blogtalk podcasts, all the interviews and more? 

All an attempt to awaken people from their slumber.

It’s easy to be misled by popular fables.  That TARP was “necessary.”  That it we “avoided” a second Great Depression.  That the foreclosure fraud was all “mistakes” and besides, all those evil people who got tossed out weren’t paying anyway.  That the United States “deserves” it’s “AAA” credit rating and “can’t” lose it.

Add some lubrication to the mass of people with handouts and printed money “hot checks” makes for a really nice sedative in your cup of hot chocolate to keep you, the people, asleep.

But once in a while through these years someone has woken up.  It appears Neil Cavuto has.  Dylan Ratigan definitely has.  And now….. it’s pretty clear Glenn Beck has.

There are, this evening, rumors flying around that some of the “big guns” in parts of the Tea Party might have woken up too.

If they have…. if the focus of organized political action shifts back to where I and a handful of others tried to aim it in the first place and where it needed to go from the start - with analysis, with protest, with writing, with petitions bearing tens of thousands of signatures…..

We might be able to save this nation from going over the cliff.

I’m ready, willing and able to add my effort to others. 

As I have repeatedly said, when the facts change, so does my opinion. 

As we head into Good Friday, I’ll offer a simple prayer: That a mass-awakening has begun, that the facts have, indeed, changed.
