Gerald Celente — Society Is Breaking Down

I first started listening to Gerald Celente about two years ago. His message has not changed over time. We’re in for another Depression, things are going to go from bad to worse, society is breaking down. Looking at the United States, it is hard not to believe him. Society is breaking down. Our national politics has become a joke. Local governments are laying off “essential” service workers (firemen, police, teachers). It’s an unethical free-for-all in the “free” markets, one giant game of Survivor. On TV news is Infotainment. They put guys in cages and encourage them to beat the shit out of each other. This is very popular.

I wrote a post American has abandoned its young people earlier this week, You would think a story like that would have some shock value, especially since it was not meant to be a sensational attention-grabber. The story is true, America is abandoning its young people. The trend is clear. College is more and more unaffordable, but if a young person doesn’t go to college, he or she can’t even get a shitty job. Those go to the ones who pile up debt to go to college.

What’s strange is this: I write a story like that, and it gets little or no attention on the internets outside my usual readers. The general attitude toward such stories is ho-hum. So, what’s new? Of course the young are screwed, everybody knows that. Social cohesion hardly exists in the United States. Nobody expects things to get better. Nobody expects that we’ll pull ourselves together and work our way out of this ongoing disaster. Nobody gives a shit.

In so far as 54% of Americans agree with Celente, his statements are not even controversial. And why should I expect people to get worked up over our abandoned youth? Unless you get actual riots in the streets, social breakdown is largely invisible. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. I can see it everyday. I can feel it everyday. And so does Gerald.
