Bitcoin reached Australia and English pubs
The large e-shop Millennius which trades electronics started to accept Bitcoin as a payment method. The owners of the site are also going to add the support of Litecoin, which is similar to Bitcoin. In Millennius’ announcement, it states that it “believes it is the first online retailer globally to accept Litecoin payment through its site” and the first Australian retailer to accept Bitcoin. According to company founder Pierre Boutros, “The addition of Bitcoin and Litecoin as payment options can only help with our ability to offer great deals to wider customer base.”
To make Bitcoin payments, users can just select it as a payment option. As for Litecoin, users will need to place your order via a special email address.
Also, recently, a pub chain run by a former Cambridge University scientist has started accepting Bitcoin in exchange for pints of beer. Stephen Early, a director and co-founder of “Individual Pubs Limited”, installed the first bitcoin cash register app at the “White Lion” in Norwich. It has since been deployed at the chain’s other pubs in Cambridge, Peterborough and Hackney. Users simply scan a QR code on the till receipt to instantly convert the sterling transaction to the equivalent Bitcoin price.
The first Bitcoin transaction at the “Haymakers” was selling a half-pint of Milton Icarus for £1.55, or 0.0202 of Bitcoin at an exchange rate of almost £77 for a single Bitcoin.
