Why So Many Wildfires? Half The Country Is Turning Into An Intensely Hot, Bone Dry Burn Zone

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Did you know that 8 of the 9 worst years for wildfires ever recorded have all been since the year 2000?  The western half of the United States just keeps getting hotter and drier, and this is creating ideal conditions for wildfires.  The furious wildfire that took the lives of 19 brave firefighters in Yarnell, Arizona on Sunday is just one example of this.  That wildfire has already consumed more than 200 buildings in the town of Yarnell, and it now spans nearly 9,000 acres even though more than 400 firefighters are battling it.  High winds, record setting heat and bone dry conditions have created a “perfect storm” that firefighters are having a very difficult time contending with.  Unfortunately, scientists tell us that things may continue to get even worse for the western half of the country.  Most of the territory between the Mississippi River and the west coast seems to be steadily getting drier, and that means it is rapidly being transformed into an intensely hot, bone dry burn zone.

What we just witnessed in Arizona was not an isolated incident.  Last week, the nation was captivated by the most destructive wildfire in Colorado history.  And according to NBC News, officials are saying that this could be the worst season for wildfires in the state of California in 100 years…

Southern California fire officials warned Monday that the state should take caution during a brutal fire season that projections suggest could be the worst to hit the region in a century.

“We’re going to have a very volatile fire season,” Los Angeles County Fire Chief Daryl Osby said at a Monday afternoon news conference, who noted it could be the worst in 100 years.

So what is causing all of this?

Well, drought is one of the primary reasons why we are seeing so many fires.  In a previous article, I explained that scientists believe that the 20th century was the wettest century in the western half of the United States in 1000 years.  During that time, we built cities in a lot of places that historically have been very hot and very dry.

And now things appear to be reverting to more normal historical patterns.  And that means very dry conditions.  The past year has been the driest ever recorded for both California and New Mexico, and this past winter was extremely dry for the entire western half of the country.

Sadly, the drought never seems to end.  According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, intensely dry conditions stretch from east Texas all the way to the California coastline right now.

And of course the crazy heat wave that western states are experiencing at the moment is certainly not helping things.  The high temperature in Phoenix was 115 on Sunday, and the mercury hit 129 in Death Valley.

Meanwhile, the western half of the country continues to dry up at a staggering rate.  Will we soon see severe water restrictions imposed in cities and towns all over the Southwest?

If you think this is just hype, check out what is already happening in one town in Utah

Look around the city of Lehi and you see beautiful green lawns. You would never know they were in the middle of a water emergency. Some residents don’t even know. That’s why the city is passing out fliers to every resident, letting them know if they don’t change their ways some neighborhoods could be out of drinking water as early as tomorrow.

Anna Morales got one on her door yesterday and couldn’t believe how serious the situation had become.

“I was shocked because I hadn’t heard anything prior to that,” Morales said.

Sadly, even most of the people that live in these areas don’t really know what is going on.  They just assume that everything will be fine and that plenty of fresh water will always be there.

But as I wrote about recently, the truth is that we are rapidly seeing conditions emerge which are reminiscent of the 1930s.  In fact, some western states are already experiencing absolutely massive dust storms that can last for up to 15 hours.  And in Nevada recently, an “apocalyptic” dust storm caused a 27 vehicle pileup

Twenty-seven vehicles slammed into each other during a sandstorm in rural Northern Nevada, killing one person, seriously injuring several others and sapping already-thin emergency resources Monday evening, officials said.

Humboldt County sheriff’s dispatchers called in virtually every medical, law enforcement and fire worker in the sparsely populated area after drivers reported “near-apocalyptic” conditions on Interstate 80 three miles west of Winnemucca, according to officials at the Humboldt General Hospital.

For much more on all of this, please see my recent article entitled “Dust Bowl Conditions Are Literally Returning To The Western Half Of The United States“.

In this day and age, we like to think that our technological advancements have conquered nature, but that is most definitely not the case.

Our most important sources of fresh water in the western half of the nation are rapidly running dry, and the “breadbasket of America” is starting to turn back into the Dust Bowl.

What are we going to do when the water is gone?

What is going to happen to food prices if crops start failing out west year after year?

And what is the western half of the country going to eventually look like if wildfires continue to get even worse?

Scientists tell us that what we experienced last century was not normal.  For some reason, the western half of the country was unusually blessed with rain.  But now that has changed.  Things are going back to how they were before.

Are we going to be able to handle that?

All of that “cloud seeding” and they can’t seem to provide enough precipitation to aid in the extinguishing of these blazes?!?!?

Good article! And the irony that we are surrounded by so much water. Yes, indeed you would think that with our technology we’d have figured out a way to keep the land from drying out. I also find it interesting the we have been “conditioned” to think this is normal, terms like “fire season”, dry brush, wild fires, etc., but as you point on, it’s occuring more…not normal.

I was once driving on the 56 N freeway in Orange County, CA and for a part of my drive there were small fires burning up the side of the freeway brush….never seen anything like that. The heat is not normal, nor the fires, nor the floods in many places….ironic that flooding never occurs in fire prone areas…..

No kidding; and it’s worse than maybe you know. The magnetic north pole is rapidly sliding south towards SIBERIA somewhere on the other side from us WHICH MEANS the Equator must be re-positioning northward towards the United Fried States of America over on the US side.

Jesus said there was a “REGENERATION” coming (Matthew 19:28) meaning the planet has now begun being altered back to a previous condition that existed when Adam & Eve were created. This has to be an advance move prior to Armageddon.

Or is it just ooohh Chance? I think not, because the maps on YouTube showing the magnetic pole movement show it is SLIDING FAST IN A DIRECT BEELINE. It looks like it’s happening on purpose i.e. Caused. Won’t be long now friends. The Thief in the Night has enough power to re-position a planet to where He wants it.

His Will be Done Amen & Amen. p.s. Two quakes in Yellowstone on July 1 (exact same Epicenter) and one today. The superheated southern states to the south of Yellowstone are heating up the Yellowstone Caldera lavahole. July 4 seems a long ways off today (7/02/2013 @1 PM ET).

Nowhere to run – Nowhere to hide!!!!!!!!! They are destroying as much of the natural land as possible in order to place hardship on people who try to flee the city with their bug out bags, expecting to hideout in the forest. They are flooding as many areas as possible to destroy homes and property so that when they strike, people will already be vulnerable, so vulnerable as to have given up and willingly go to FEMA. As with the hurricanes, oil pipe fractures all over the place, dead sea life, birds falling from the sky, drought withering the fields and livestock being killed, chemtrailing, flouridated water etc. I mean, open your eyes people, can’t you see the horrors that await you? Get out while you can, before they destroy your valuable home and property, strip you of your guns, take away your gold and silver, food and water, your right to speak out against what is happening, and a guilliotine awaits you and the end of the yellowbrick road on the other side of the FEMA fence if you will not allow yourself to be vaccinated and microchipped.
Sorry about the lecture, just saying…… By the way, did I mention that anyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Forget about religion, talk to Jesus yourself. He will give you the true run down on what is happening and how to avoid calamity.

I have been watching he unfolding scenario,..and thought that the hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes and unusually high temperatures,..seemed unduly suspicious….HAARP..?Looks like Obama is instigating exactly what we all feared.Next step,..hand over all the weapons and into the FEMA camps you go,….

For years the US Forest Service neglected the growing pine beetle problem in the western states. The forest are a tender box of pure fuel for fires. The southeastern states got control of the beetles many years ago because of the lumber business. When all the tree worshipers move to the mountains the timber industry died in the Rockies and so did the trees. If you drive through the mountains now it is nothing but an ugly brown view. I lived in Colorado for several years and watched the forest rapidly die! They have no one to blame but themselves. So much for government management! Dragnet “The facts lady just the facts”

Logging the forests in a sustainable, responsible, reforestation manner for well over 100 years in the west, kept the overgrown forests from being Free Fire zones. No logging, no firebreaks. No logging roads, no forest access. For every 100,000 acres of overgrown forests burning Hot for months (only rainfall extinguishes the big fires) an amount of CO2 equal to EVERY car and truck across the USA is emitted. Over a million acres is burned in most years. That is equal to Ten Years of accumulated CO2 from US cars and trucks. Some years in the past (no cars/trucks) over 3 million acres burned. Politically powerful Environmentalists much prefer Burning trees, and people?, to harvesting, from what it appears. Oh yes, I forgot, burning forests emit that good old ‘Natural’ CO2.

    • madness

Before Clinton left office, he authorized a change in the way forests were maintained. It used to be that the fuel (dead trees) were removed on a scheduled basis. Now, since 2000, they are left on the forest floor to provide fuel to the next fire. Somehow, the environmental movement thinks this is a good idea. The outcome is obvious.

The truth is is our earth is shifting and has been for awhile. I remember seeing a documentary where other countries were taking ice from the north off of ice bergs and towing it to their countries. This is weight and when you move enough weight from one place to another things shift! Remember when the moon was directly to the east but now it’s to the side. When I was young you didn’t see the moon during the day now you can. This is our global warming.

Whats the purpose of having technology like HAARP if you’re not going to use it when it counts?
I swear our public servants are idiots…

Geo-engineering using chemtrails will very soon make the western US a wasteland. My concern is if all chemtrails stopped today would the ecosystem restore itself or has these maniacs gone beyond the point of no return?

Times are really getting stressful and hard, Hotter temperatures no matter what the cause may be, increases wildfire risk

“The bottom line is that the overall area burned is projected to double by late this century across 11 western states if the average summertime temperature increases 2.9 degrees Fahrenheit, with Montana, Wyoming, New Mexico and Utah being hit particularly hard.

The frequency of large wildfires and the total area burned have been steadily increasing in the Western United States, with global warming being a major contributing factor.

Longer fire seasons will result as spring runoff occurs earlier, summer heat builds up more quickly, and warm conditions extend further into fall. Western forests typically become combustible within a month of when snowmelt finishes.

Snowpack is now melting 1 to 4 weeks earlier than it did 50 years ago.

Drier conditions will increase the probability of fire occurrence. Summertime temperatures in western North America are projected to be 3.6 to 9 degrees Fahrenheit higher by mid-century, enhancing evaporation rates, while precipitation is expected to decrease by up to 15 percent. The Southwest will be hit particularly hard, perhaps shifting to a more arid climate.

More fuel for forest fires will become available because warmer and drier conditions are conducive to widespread beetle and other insect infestations, resulting in broad ranges of dead and highly combustible trees.

Higher temperatures enhance winter survival of mountain pine beetles and allow for a more rapid lifecycle. At the same time, moderate drought conditions for a year or longer can weaken trees, allowing bark beetles to overcome the trees’ defense mechanisms more easily.

Increased frequency of lightning is expected as thunderstorms become more severe. In the western United States a 1.8 degree Fahrenheit increase in temperature is expected to lead to a 6 percent increase in lightning.

9/11 was in 2001. “Did you know that 8 of the 9 worst years for wildfires ever recorded have all been since the year 2000?”. HMMM! Makes one wonder. Are these the acts of Al Qaeda or God?
