Death Of The Dollar – In Pictures

Since the Federal Reserve became master over the universe one hundred years ago, the United States dollar has been dying a slow tortuous death. Because we mostly take money for granted, until we don’t have any, the incremental changes to the dollar bill have gone almost unnoticed. The dollar’s demise has been like a mortally wounded bull elephant – slowing bleeding to death. Here are the corpses:

This “Silver Certificate” plainly stated: ”ONE SILVER DOLLAR” – “Payable To The Bearer On Demand.” Yes, you could take the “certificate” to the bank to exchange or redeem for a silver dollar. Because of its large size, it was nicknamed a “Horse Blanket”.

The 1928 “Silver Certificate” changed its size, but not the words: “Silver Certificate” and “ONE SILVER DOLLAR” – “Payable To The Bearer On Demand”.
