Bitcoin sellers were arrested in Florida
In Florida were arrested two user of service LocalBitcoins. They tried to sell a large number of Bitcoin for U.S. dollars. They were charged under two laws. The first is Florida’s anti-money laundering law, which targets money exchanges above $10,000. The second is running an unlicensed money transmission business.
Michell Abner Espinoza of Miami Beach was arrested after a sting in which an undercover agent engaged him in a fake transaction to convert $30,000 worth of cash into Bitcoins. And Pascal Reid was also arrested after meeting with an undercover agent to exchange $30,000 for Bitcoins.
Jeremias Kangas, the owner of LocalBitcoins.com, said in an interview CoinDesk:
«This is inevitable of course. We have to have more scrutiny and tools to watch that everything on our website is legal, and our users can follow their local laws. We are spending a lot of resources on that, but we are a startup».
