Are the USD and U.S. Equity Markets the New Safe Haven?

As gold trades under pressure Tuesday morning, Kitco News speaks with Peter Hug to see why he thinks the metal isn’t doing better. “We’re looking at a situation where there is still considerable flow of funds going into the U.S. dollar,” he says, adding that it may seem like the “dollar and the U.S. equity market have become more of a safe haven than gold.” Commenting on Europe, Hug says that although it is a possibility for Greece to exit the EU, he expects them to negotiate a short-term solution with Germany and the European Central Bank. “I think the Germans will give them some time,” he says. “My guess is that Greece will ask for the moon, they won’t get it. ” Watch now to see what Peter has to say about gold ahead of the Chinese Lunar New Year.
