NO RECEIPTS UNDER $50!!! CONSUMERS SET UP!!!

DO YOU WANT A RECEIPT???

How many times have you been asked that lately after making a purchase under $50?

It has crept up and is so common place now and is not limited to just grocery stores. When you fill up at the gas station the screen has you actually select a “request for a receipt” rather than automatically generating one.

                            REALLY INDICATES THE INCREASED ACCEPTANCE AND RELIANCE ON DIGITAL MONEY RATHER THAN ON PHYSICAL CASH, AND THAT THE RELEVANT INFORMATION WILL BE CAPTURED DIGITALLY IF THERE IS A PROBLEM!

Also it really does send the message that  physical money is of little value.

But what happens if there is a problem???

I purchase some pre sliced cheese that was a store labeled product. Under $50, no receipt. Upon opening the package I discovered that the cheese slices were completely covered in green mold. Uck!!!

No Problem, I went to the store to return it and to my surprise the service clerk refused to accept the item back!

I was just going to exchange and was not requesting monetary return. 

            NO RECEIPT, NO RETURN OR REFUND!!!

I was met with the question “How Do We Know That You Bought It HERE?” Might be a fair question but it was the store’s private label, implying that they were the only store in the area that sells the product.

Fortunately another customer arrived with exactly the same product with exactly the same problem but she Did have a Receipt!!!

We both got refunds!

We are being conditioned to not worry or care about obtaining one of those pesky recepts, just as in the case with even more expensive items purchased over Christmas. The sales associate just slaps on a sticker and reminds shoppers that the items can be returned with just that sticker as a receipt.

BUT AT WHAT PRICE IS THE REFUND OR EXCHANGE GIVEN AT???

Obviously if it is with a department store credit card that information is easily accessible, but what if paid in that antiquated method of “Cash”?

The system is seriously flawed. I purchased an item one week that was an advertised sale and then returned it the following week when it was not on sale. I had used cash with no receipt.

Result, I received the higher price for that week. I did not seek out to profit in this manner but realized afterwards that I had been over refunded. So the problem goes both ways.

RETAIL IS LEADING THE WAY TO THE CASHLESS SOCIETY!

When are you most likely to use cash. Obviously not to purchase a car, but it is more common with small purchases at corner stores ect.

As my experience illustrates, if there is a problem, will that retailer honor the return or rather question if the purchase was made there???
