That was the breathless “revelation” that the shooter at Parkland was “associated with” a white-supremacy group and had “attended paramilitary events” with them.
You’ll note that I didn’t report on that.
The reason I didn’t is that I had a strong suspicion that it was a scam, and in fact there were mentions floating around that the infamous weaponized autism folks at 4chan were behind planting it.
In days gone by journalists actually attempted to verify their stories before they published them — and tweeted about them. These days, no such thing is required. Damn near everyone “reported” that there was such a connection.
