The People Pick Ed Martin

(ST. LOUIS, MO.) August 3, 2010 – Tonight among hundreds of supporters in a South St. Louis manufacturing business, Ed Martin graciously accepted the nomination of Republican candidate for Missouri’s 3rd district.

“I am so honored to have been chosen by the people of Missouri’s 3rd district. You could really grasp the energy and excitement of our campaign tonight. The people have spoken and feel they finally have a chance to be heard. No one is listening in Washington and they know I will listen – I have spent the past few months touring the district listening – hearing from folks like our gracious host tonight, Brian Koch. People are worried about jobs, wasteful spending, and health care and they are confident I will fight for their best interests. While the local fight is far from over I expect our grassroots effort to continue to grow as our campaign reaches out even more in the months leading up to November. I welcome the opportunity and again am honored and humbled to accept this nomination,” said Ed Martin.

Ed Martin reached out to his opponent, incumbent Congressman Russ Carnahan, to extend his congratulations this evening. He also requested Carnahan work with him in lining up a series of debates starting right away in August– since the Congressman heads back to Washington D.C. the beginning of September.

Meanwhile Ed Martin is wasting no time getting back on the campaign trail. Immediately after the primary party Ed will begin a 4-day listening tour of the district to meet voters in their homes, businesses, schools and town squares. One of Ed’s supporters, a woodcarver, created a wooden stump, from which he can give his stump speeches, with the words “American Freedom” emblazoned across it. Thus, this listening tour has become the “American Freedom Listening Tour.” The tour will have Ed traveling throughout Missouri’s 3rd district the rest of the week. It kicks off in Ste. Genevieve Wednesday. He will wind his way through Ste. Genevieve County, Jefferson County, St. Louis County, and St. Louis City on Wednesday. In the following days he will then make his way back through the entire district going off the beaten track to smaller towns in the district to make sure they too are heard. Ed Martin’s American Freedom Listening Tour will wrap up the week back in Ste. Genevieve Saturday morning at a prayer breakfast.
