What They’re Saying About the “Balance, Cut, Invest”
Bus Tour

For the past week and a half, John Boozman has been crossing
the Natural State, bringing his message of balancing the budget, cutting
spending and investing in Arkansas’s future directly to the voters.
 
Dedicated to being a conservative voice for Arkansas in the U.S. Senate,
Boozman’s “Balance, Cut, Invest” Bus Tour is taking him to 56 towns where he is
sharing his ideals and visions that he’ll bring to Washington with voters at
each stop.

“I think the farm community is
understanding that it’s more than just farming. It’s about rural communities,
and right now rural communities are under attack,” Boozman told The Associated
Press in an interview, saying he believed the health care overhaul and other
initiatives from the Obama administration are hurting rural Arkansas.
 
Boozman campaign co-chairman Stanley Reed — a former president of the Arkansas
Farm Bureau… pointed to Boozman’s stances that would please farmers, including
his support of opening trade with Cuba.
 
In nearby Brinkley, Sandra Kemmer said she wanted to find out what Boozman
would do for the Delta.
 
After hearing Boozman speak, Kemmer said she was likely to vote for him and
credited part of her support to Reed’s endorsement.

“I never had anybody in the course
of town-hall meetings, never had anyone concerned that we’re not spending
enough. It’s just the opposite. They want to know why the federal government is
spending so much money.”
 
He tells people he makes no apologies when Democrats accuse him of opposing
things.
 
“They call me the congressman of no,” Boozman said. “You bet I’ll vote no. On
all the things that are bad for America, you bet I’ll vote no.”

“Before he announced I didn’t know a whole lot about him,” said Jack Pierce,
who attended a Boozman campaign appearance at the Cecil Traylor Wilson Garden,
a public garden downtown in this college community of 11,000.
 
Pierce said that what he has learned about Boozman since then has convinced him
he is the right man to replace Democratic incumbent Sen. Blanche Lincoln, but
that didn’t stop him from greeting Boozman with a tough question: “How are you
going to keep yourself from representing the special interests over the people
of Arkansas?”
 
Boozman answered, “You haven’t been voting for me, but I have been voting for
you the last nine years, and I really do take that seriously.”

“Every election since I’ve been old enough to vote … we hear this is the
big one, the one that makes a difference,” Boozman told a room of
supporters gathered Tuesday at Smitty’s Barbeque in Conway. “But truly, I
believe the election that’s coming up right now really is a deciding point for
our generation.”
 
He was joined at the stop (Conway) by state Sen. Gilbert Baker, who had run
against him in May in the eight-candidate primary for the GOP Senate
nomination.

At Tuesday’s stop, Baker praised Boozman as “the guy who’s going to
get up there and vote right and help get this country back on track for jobs,
jobs, jobs.”
“I’d be thrilled to have him as my United States senator.”
