11. John understands Arkansas and fights hard to meet Arkansas’s needs.

It’s a common narrative: you run for office, win the election, and move to Washington. It can be difficult to stay in touch; so as years pass, you grow further and further detached from the constituents you represent. Pretty soon, you’re paying more attention to the power-players in Washington than the people who sent you there in the first place.

It’s a sad story, but it happens all too often. So the question is worth asking: Does John Boozman understand our communities? If elected to the Senate, will John Boozman stay in touch with Arkansas?

The answer is “YES.”

John lives in Arkansas, not Washington. He has a wife, daughters, and family who reside in Arkansas, not Washington. Each weekend, John returns to Arkansas to check-in with his boss-the people of Arkansas.
He listens to Arkansas accountants, architects, electricians, engineers, union laborers, shopkeepers and school administrators. He visits the farms, family restaurants, manufacturing facilities, senior centers, schools, and hospitals that employ Arkansans. John works hard to stay in touch with Arkansas so he can fight to represent our needs in Washington.

As a former school board member, cattle rancher, and Arkansas business owner, John understands the challenges that our communities, schools and businesses face, and he recognizes the importance of keeping his hand on Arkansas’s pulse. Nearly half of his Congressional staff works from Arkansas, and he has developed a well-deserved reputation as a constituent services champion. Moreover, John is a strong proponent of open townhalls and public forums that provide constituents the opportunity to ask him tough questions. John believes he has an obligation to answer these questions and recognizes that citizens deserve the opportunity to hold their elected officials to account.
