What Is the McBlack PAC? What Is Its Purpose And Who Is Running It?

What Is The Real Purpose Of The McBLACKPAC? Is This an Attempt To Forge A Political Relationship Between Blacks and Irish-Americans, or Is It Something Else?

In an interesting attempt at bi-racial, ethnic harmony, a group of Irish-Americans is reportedly reaching out to African-Americans via a new Political Action Committee-McBLACKPAC.  The PAC reportedly reaches out to Irish-Americans, based on President Barack O’Bama’s Irish ancestry. Is this another attempt to re-brand the President as anything BUT black? The PAC will reportedly launch at the Democratic Convention in Charlotte.

 According to the political blog thehill.com:

An Irish-American political action committee will launch the McBLACKPAC super-PAC at the Democratic convention in Charlotte.

The super-PAC aims to help young Irish and young black politicians win state and national elections, according to the Irish American Democrats political action committee.

“Together we will work to elect Democratic candidates to Federal and State office who share our values on civil rights, immigration reform, education, workers’ rights, justice, the environment and economic progress,” the group said in an email this week. “Hope you will join us and look forward to working with you in the next Obama administration.”

The new PAC has lit a firestorm on the Internet in the three places it is actually mentioned—on its own poorly designed website, on the Fairfaxunderground blog and on the political blog, thehill.org. And, of course, there are the usual suspects hiding behind the anonymity of the World Wide Web to take potshots and lob racist landmines on the Internet.

But, we must ask: who are these people, what is their agenda, and what are their goals?

A trip to their website: http://mcblackpac.org/ on August 15, 2012 found a page of empty links which went nowhere.  

Web site skills, or no, the organization is popping up on a variety of blogs around the nation.  Apparently they are making contact with media sources via email to the Fairfax Underground blog..

The super-PAC aims to help young Irish and young black politicians win state and national elections, according to the Irish American Democrats political action committee.

The groups says it wants to build on the shared history of African Americans and Irish Americans, “from Frederick Douglass and Daniel O’Connell, to President John Kennedy and Rev. Martin Luther King, and now President Barack Obama and Joe Biden.” 

The president of the group, Stella O’Leary, said the inspiration for the new PAC comes from Obama’s Irish and Kenyan ancestry. She also acknowledged that the name of the PAC might change, depending on how people react to it. 
 

One thing’s for sure.  Not a  lot of main stream media, or alternative media is paying the organization much attention.  As of August 15, there were less than 4 websites, news articles or blogs  mentioning the group.  Outside of their own website and the article on The Hill and Fairfaxunderground.com, the McBlack PAC is as visible as a pool of tar on a moonless night.

So, again, we must ask: what is this organization’s true purpose?  Why have they not garnered more press attention? What is going on here?
