Supporting Romney With Élan & Trepidation - Business Of Defeating Obama. Romney/Ryan In 2012!

Jim ONeill / Canada Free Press

If the title of this article gives the impression that I am conflicted about the Romney/Ryan ticket, there is a reason for that. I am.

On the one hand I believe that defeating Obama trumps all, but on the other hand I am extremely wary of the GOP elites these days—with good reason.

The dismissive, dishonest, and supercilious manner in which the GOP elites treated Ron Paul throughout the campaign, and the under-handed, heavy-handed, and dangerous rule changes implemented during the RNC convention in Tampa have left me less than thrilled about the “conservative” Republican ticket that we have been force-fed by the elites.

The rule changes were childish, troublesome, and in a word, stupid. They were born of the type of stupidity that stems from arrogance and fear—and talk about bad timing!

As we approach the final stretch of the run for the Presidency, a united, energized front is essential. Yet what do the GOP elites do? They treat Ron Paul delegates like some especially noxious form of pestilence, and pass Draconian rule changes guaranteed to split the Republican Party into acrimonious factions. It is almost as if they want to “pull a McCain” again, and throw the election to the Democrats. It is no major concern to the elites which party wins—either party will allow them to continue to stuff themselves at the same taxpayer-funded “food trough.”

“We the people” cannot allow that. The stakes are too high, and as tempted as some of us may be to toss the Republican Party aside and go for a third party, now is not the time—2016 is another matter.

My gorge rises at the thought of holding my nose and voting for the lesser of two evils—once again—yet I currently see no other viable option. I am an idealist, but I am also a pragmatist, and although I like a beau geste as much as the next person, I am not about to throw my vote away merely so I can sit on my high horse and feel superior. As I say, the stakes are too high.

If you wish to “vote your conscious” in the upcoming election, then by all means do so—I have no argument with you, or your stance. I am, however, committed to defeating Obama, and I see a united, energized Republican Party as the best vehicle to accomplish that. Anything that splinters the Republican Party at this point is playing into the hands of the Democrats, and all but ensuring an Obama victory in 2012.

That being the case, the question I ask myself is, “What is there about the Romney/Ryan ticket to be encouraged by, and enthusiastic about?” Anything? Well, yes, there is something—several somethings as a matter of fact.

Before delving into the positives, permit me to return to a favored leitmotif of mine, and briefly discuss the left-wing nature of Fascism. It is crucial that “we the people” understand that both Communism and Fascism are left of center on the political spectrum. The myth that Fascism is a right-wing ideology is a lie that we have been fed for decades. Both Communists and Fascists (and Socialists, for that matter) believe in and champion BIG GOVERNMENT. Which means that both ideologies, by their very nature, are opposed to the government-limiting strictures of the US Constitution—including the freedoms guaranteed to “we the people” under the Bill of Rights.

Regardless of whether you call neocons “Trotskyites,” or “Fascists,” or what have you, the fact remains that they are left-wing by virtue of their love for big government (which ipso facto means that they are not overly fond of the US Constitution and the first ten Amendments—the Bill of Rights).

Those of us who believe that the oath to “support and defend the

Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic” should be treated as something more than a standing joke, would do well to remember the big-government/anti-Constitutional stance of the Republican neocons. I will leave discussion of the military/industrial complex and the neocon’s fondness of constant warfare for another day. (The Democrats have proven to be no slouches either when it comes to regime change and war profiteering, I might add).

Lest I stray into letting this article become a polemic against neocons, the NWO, the collusion between Big Banks, Big Corporations, and Big Government, I’ll cut myself short here, and return to the topic of what I find positive and encouraging about the 2012 Romney/Ryan ticket. (In closing this portion of my article, let me state for the record that I consider myself a “pacifist with an attitude.” That is, I desire peace, but I believe in striking quickly if tread upon. In other words I believe in prompt defensive payback, but America’s current ill-conceived policy of unceasing, pre-emptive aggression is unhealthy, unjustified, ungodly, unconstitutional, and un-American).

To get back to the meat of this article: I believe that a victory by the Romney/Ryan ticket this November will put the US back on track economically. That is no small thing, or something to sneeze at. It will have far reaching ramifications that go well beyond the obvious things, such as getting Americans back to work and stopping the economic free-fall we are currently experiencing.

Some of those ramifications include infusing morality and ethics back into the federal (and state) governments, reinvigorating a respect and appreciation for capitalism and personal property, and starting blow-back against the treacherous poison of arrogant “ends justify the means” positionalities, and the asinine individual and cultural relativism so prevalent today.

From what I have been able to glean from the Internet about Romney and Ryan, they are good, moral, and ethical individuals—well—good, moral, and ethical for politicians. Again, no small thing.

Treason, duplicity, and corruption are entrenched throughout our culture, institutions, and government. I look for such deleterious and insidious practices to be reined in under a Romney Administration—not eradicated, to be sure, but reined in to a greater or lesser extent.

I would also expect the anti-family, anti-religious (excepting Islam, of course) policies of recent years to be halted, and then reversed. Romney and Ryan are both men of faith, and will not be eager to advocate and advance a secularist (i.e. Godless) agenda.

[Sidebar: This is as good a time as any to bring up the “Mormon thing.” In a recent article by Pastor Roger Anghis, “Can a Christian Vote for Romney,” Anghis brings up some good points (although I strongly disagree with the Pastor’s take on Ron Paul). Pastor Anghis writes: “I’m not saying that Romney is a heathen and I’m not saying he is a Christian. He exhibits Christian principles more than many Christians that I know. He lives his life according to biblical principles. He is not arrogant or proud. He is sincere and motivated with a record to prove that he is capable of running this country effectively and efficiently. Obama has none of these qualities, none! Can a Christian vote for Romney? Yes he can. And he should because we must do everything we [can] to remove the most ungodly man that has ever taken up residence in the White House.”

Leaving aside the question of whether Mormonism is a Christian faith or not (I’ll leave that to the theologians), I would say that Pastor Anghis has the right of it, and that Romney has shown “Christian attitudes” to be a guiding force in his life. That is more than you can say about Obama—that is, unless you consider the Marxist, racist, Black Theology rantings of Obama’s spiritual mentor Jeremiah “God Damn America” Wright to be an example of Christianity.]

I believe that both Romney and Ryan (especially Ryan) appreciate the importance of a healthy and vibrant American middle-class—and will act accordingly. The Democrats pay lip-service to the middle-class, but their actions during the Obama Administration put the lie to their words. Marxists, being the closet elitists that they are, have historically held the middle-class (the perennially despised bourgeoisie) in contempt. Without a healthy middle-class, America as a free republic cannot exist—something that big-government proponents know all too well. (It should be noted that Republican elitists share their liberal brethren’s distaste for the middle-class).

It will be a relief to have, in Romney, a President whose past has not been purposefully obscured or hidden, and who, unlike Obama, does not have a past mired in rumors, allegations, and innuendos of an anti-American nature. The MSM has done a stellar job of running interference for Obama in this regard, but nonetheless, “we the people” are increasingly questioning Obama’s legitimacy to be POTUS. The Romney/Ryan ticket does not come with such baggage. It will be a welcome change for that reason alone.

Last, but certainly not least, is something I touched on in my last article: the Presidential election is hardly the only race being held this November. “We the people” need to get out and vote in as many Constitution-loving patriotic judges, Sheriffs, Senators, Representatives, Dog Catchers et al. as we can—and just as importantly, vote out as many corrupt, duplicitous, disingenuous political parasites as possible. This applies on the local, state, and national level. Keep in mind that a healthy influx of Tea Party patriots into our political system will add the beneficial lagniappe of giving a President Romney extra incentive to “do the right thing.”

The above is hardly an exhaustive list of reasons to support the Romney/Ryan ticket in 2012, but it will do for starters. I do indeed support the Romney/Ryan ticket at this time—enthusiastically, if with some trepidation. I will leave my dislike of, and concerns over, the Republican elites on the back-burner for now, and be about the business of defeating Obama. Romney/Ryan in 2012!
