Why Obama Won — And What Conservatives Must Do

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

November 6, 2012 – 10:15 pm – by Ron Radosh

There are no ways to get around the facts. For Republicans and conservatives and independents who wanted a new direction for our country, the victory of President Obama is sad—and for many of us, unexpected. Those conservatives who assured us with statistics, theories and arguments about Romney winning the White House, even in a landslide, should be eating their hats.

In the past week, conservatives who usually disagree with each other about many things, including Fred Barnes, Peggy Noonan, Dick Morris, my PJM colleague Roger Kimball, George F. Will, Karl Rove and Michael Barone, among others, provided analysis and arguments all of which led to predictions of an inevitable Romney victory. Instead of the outcome they all looked forward to and assumed would be an inevitable outcome given Obama’s failures and the state of the economy, found that their theories collapsed as the returns poured in. Instead of a long night, by 11:30 p.m., even Fox News called the election for the President. Yes, Karl Rove thought their statistics desk called it too early, but by 15 minutes later, he too agreed that Ohio had gone for the President.

So what happened? I had been trying to warn my optimistic friends in recent days that I thought Obama would win, and was regularly greeted with a slew of polls meant to prove I was wrong. So here are some of my thoughts and reactions, written before I can be influenced by the pundits who will be writing in tomorrow morning’s newspapers and appearing on TV talk shows.

First, the Obama campaign’s decision to frighten women worked. Republicans did not wage a campaign on social issues, but the Obama team ran commercials in all the major swing states emphasizing how Romney would try to outlaw contraception, prohibit their right to choose abortion if they felt there was no alternative, and that half the population would be threatened were a Republican elected.

Perhaps it would not have worked, but the Republicans lost the Senate with the two candidates who made outrageous statements that Romney simply dealt with by saying he did not agree, but refused to take away his endorsements which would have indicated he meant business. No one expected the unpopular Claire McCaskill to win, but Todd Akin’s ridiculous statements led even her to win, as did Richard Murdouck’s outrageous views on rape as something God intended resulted in victory for his Democratic opponent. Without the Republican party sticking to support for both these candidates, the Republicans might have been able to gain the Senate. With friends like these, conservatives became their own worst enemies, providing the ammunition for the Democratic charge that Republicans were waging a war on women.

Second, there is the hurricane factor. The nation saw Obama in his bomber jacket, accompanied by Republican keynoter Gov. Chris Christie, accompanying the President all through the devastated areas of New Jersey hit by Hurricane Sandy. For the Democrats, it became the perfect storm that allowed the nation to believe what it wanted desperately to think—that Barack Obama had become a leader, who even the conservative Governor of New Jersey worked with and praised for his leadership. The news coverage of Obama and Christie, and the Governor’s effusive over-the-top praise of the President, hurt Romney in a significant fashion. Christie’s stance even led Bruce Springsteen to talk on the phone with the Governor on Election Day, and to praise him for his working relationship with the President. After years of avoiding the Governor, his biggest fan, he finally got the call from his hero he had been yearning for. Gone, I think, are his chances to run for the White House as the Republican candidate four years from now.

Third: The Latino vote. The percentage of Latinos voting increased significantly, and although many are Catholic and socially conservative, the tough stance on immigration reform taken by Romney in the primary campaign hurt his chances of gaining enough of their votes. Republicans like Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush, both of Florida, were serious about conservatives developing a position more flexible and less dogmatic than the anti-immigration position of many conservatives. Their views, supported by The Wall Street Journal and most of the business community, were not that of most conservatives. When the voting statistics are tallied, I think we will find that with more Latinos voting for Republicans, Romney might have been able to do much better, if not win. As it is, he will have won far less than George W. Bush, who tried to develop a different policy but lost his fight to gain conservative support on the issue.

WRONG on all counts. Romney lost because he is NOT a conservative. He was another RINO parading around in elephant’s clothing. RINOmney also lost as a result of the way the Ron Paul supporters were treated. I am a Republican and I did not vote for Romney – or any other Republican for that matter – because I’m tired of being lied to, having moderates forced down my throat and being manipulated by a party who ignores it’s members entirely. The republican party is officially dead thanks to their own corruption, conservative radio following their orders and the candidates they’ve chosen to back despite the disgust of their entire voting base.

    • Maryjo

I agree with you PointBreak, it’s why so many took revenge by voting for Obama…All because of the lies and what was done to Ron Paul and His Supporters…Yes the Republican Party is dead for sure with the corruption so in the open it’s disgusting.

      • Fred C Dobbs

I agree too. Ron Paul could have won it for them but he is a true conservative and not a right wing, corrupt, warmonger nut. The republican leaders would rather be where they are now then win with a Ron Paul. Doug Casey is certainly right now. America was an idea and it is gone, only the United States remains. So, so sad.

you think they going to lift term limits?

I believe in giving credit where credit is due. But, knowing we were scarcely a week away from the election, Governor Christie chose to posture himself all buddy-buddy with Be-Lack O’Blama, and portray him as the greatest thing since toaster strudels. A lifelong republican, Governor Christie will never get my vote for president!

obama is a Usurper, not a US citizen illegal alien, war criminal, mass murdering, constitutional violating freak. So now what have you got to say for yourself America. America has died, here comes the pain. It would have been the same with the romney punk, so I’m not really shocked. romney stole endless votes, bought votes, every dirty trick in the book and it backfired on him because he alienated his own party that wanted Ron Paul. Hey that’s a lot of bull crap. The voting is RIGGED, period. The new world order Globalist banker scum didn’t through the obama nazi, does as he’s told, Teleprompter reader under the bus. And what’s astounding is people really believe their vote counted for either side of the same coin. America is a communist country now so go watch your dumbass boss the TV right now, I order you.

      • yes2truth

The ‘citizen’ thing is BS and a smokescreen.

Obama, like all US Presidents, is a CEO of The US Inc, he’s NOT President of THE USA. The US Inc. is registered in Puerto Rico.

This is why US Presidents issue Executive Orders, because they are just CEO’s.

The gold fringed flag is the Corporate flag it’s not the national flag. It’s also the flag of Admiralty jurisdiction and hangs in all your courts. Your Constitution does not operate in Admiralty Courts.

These people are privateers – a nice name for thieving pirates.

        Wake up you Yankees.

Discussing elections and candidates is laughable.
You people have no clue what a waste of time this is.
        Elections are RIGGED, period!!!

        DO YOU UNDERSTAND THAT?
        YOUR VOTE DOESN’T COUNT…..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
        NEVER WILL COUNT….!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The best thing to do now is to crash the system as soon as possible.
This is now a diseased country. It has to collapse before it can recover.

The USSA eventually fails and implodes. The sooner the better.

Lets print more money and it’ll make it all better. Go Mr. Bernake print more money. That’s how Greece fixed the problem. European socialism for America!

      • yes2truth

Printing more money is fine if the government is doing the printing. If Mr Rothschild is doing the printing then yes more Bolshevik Jew Marxism will be the order of the day and Americans will continue to have their property stolen from them.

Romney lost because of an illiterate electorate, drones and lemmings willing to vote from emotion and popularity and not what was known about the man.
Since when was “More of the Same” an acceptable 4 year Plan from a President ? We have lost our way as a Republic, and when Obama gets done with the Country, there wont be much left to save. The lieing Liberal Press has been working overtime since 2007 to cover for all of Obama’s shortcomings as President, from his being foisted upon the Country by Soros and CFR and others, to the truths they covered up concerning Obama’s History and Associations, and his Socialist asspirations. They haven’t stopped providing cover or lying for Obama. They are the ones you can point to that made it possible, but the idiots for Phones and “More Stuff” is what made it achievable this time around. Look for massive amnesty now, higher unemployment, less freedoms, more tyranny, more corruption, you can kiss your Republic, your Constitution and your rights Goodbye. There won’t be a United States of America when Obama is done.

Romney lost because he was never going to win.

it’s true Romney is not a conservative, he couldn’t be if he wanted to win. Moving to the middle was the only thing that kept it close. Most conservative ideas, especially social policy has been debunked. There are not enough Jesus loving conservatives out there to win a national election.

yes, i acknowledge Mr Obama has done many mistakes whether intended or not, possibly due to external pressure from the elite ghost shadows who control behind the scene, who have both a bag full of buying power notes and a bullet with a name for any US leader who might wanna dream to go astray..and like a lost son straying away from home, they can easily make him remember back home. so Obama might have had not much of a say or control over some things he had to play along for the sake of his family and his life.

there are also many things gone unreported that he has turned around in a positive way that if it wasnt for him the country of the U.S would have easily and completely gone to the dogs and collapsed. unfortunately, as people we are to busy concentrating on the negative. Obama is a natural leader and I personally cant wait to see how he is gonna turn against the cabal controllers now that the latter are like toothless tigers. watch for the coming few months..new real change will prevail.

LEAD THE WORLD TO A NEW GOLDEN AGE Mr Obama. let talkers talk and haters hate…

      • yes2truth

These people do not make mistakes. If they do something it is fully intentional.

Romney lost because 200 million Americas couldn’t have been bothered voting.

Conservatives out number progressives 2 to 1, if conservatives actually bothered to get off their lard infused backsides long enough to vote, there would never be another leftists president, ever.

Complacency won the election, well done. :???:

      Celente – Paul Ryan Pick
      Was Political Suicide
      Gerald Celente
      8-15-12

Predicted in Summer 2011 Trends Journal:
      Paul Ryan Pick Political Suicide

KINGSTON, NY 15 August 2012 — One year ago, in the Summer 2011 Trends Journal, we focused on the 2012 Presidential election. At that time, we analyzed the strengths and weaknesses of both President Obama and the cast of Republican challengers.

Trends Journal subscribers were provided with yet another vivid, important insight into “History Before it Happens” as we spelled out, in great detail, why the Republicans were on a political suicide mission and singled out Paul Ryan as the chief suicide strategist. Even though he was not in the running, we devoted an entire story to his policies, his credentials (or lack of them) and the consequences the GOP would suffer by adopting his policies.

Thus, a year before the media was looking closely into Ryan’s past and his qualifications for designing a massive budget deficit reduction plan, we had singled him out as THE politician whose views and values best represented a Republican platform that led us to forecast an Obama victory in October.

You are on the right track -but it was worse. Read:

    • Gojiroiscoming

Rubio would have brought it home for the GOP. Picking Ryan was dumb, especially with the details of his “slash everything” budget that basically put Social Security and Medicare on the chopping block for anyone 55 and under.

Again, you have to convince the moderates to vote for you. You dont get moderate votes by moving farther and farther right to appease a small but vocal minority of religious nutbags in your own fragmented party.

I’m not so sure Obama really won. I suspect massive vote fraud in this election, millions of ballots missing, voting machines tampered with (a computer programmer recently testified before congress that it only takes around 100 lines of malicious code and one minute to install it, and the machine will flip the count to favor the selected candidate, then the code will delete itself leaving no clue the machine was tampered with), and a media so anxious for Obama to win that they declared him winner even before any ballots were counted.

But it doesn’t make any difference. Romney is being controlled behind the scenes by the same elite shadow government that is controlling Obama.
