Remember when the GOP establishment promised Americans in 2014 that they would stop President Obama’s agenda if they won the Senate?
Remember how they promptly turned around after the election and voted to fund executive amnesty, Planned Parenthood, and Obamacare?
Well, it’s about to happen again.
In key Senate races across the country, the Republican establishment is promising to be a “check” on Hillary Clinton’s White House.
Senator John McCain (R-AZ) recently promised that Republicans would block Hillary Clinton’s Supreme Court nominees if they hold the Senate.
That’s exactly what Republicans should do, but we’ve heard these promises before and seen them broken time and time again.
In 2014, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) pledged to fight to add “restrictions” in spending bills “on the activities of the bureaucracy.”
It never happened.
And now the establishment is so desperate to find a message that appeals to voters, even the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is getting in on the act by running ads that say Republicans will stop Hillary Clinton’s liberal agenda.
It’s very misleading given that the Chamber supported Obama’s stimulus, the Wall Street bailout, debt limit increases, the Export-Import Bank, and major parts of Obamacare. Stopping liberal policies is not what they do.
We’re bringing this to your attention now because history shows that the GOP establishment will pretend they never made these conservative promises after the election is over.
If Hillary Clinton wins the presidency, GOP leaders will promptly proclaim that the party should help pass her policies so they don’t look like obstructionists. There will be no mention of serving as a “check” on the White House.
It’s an election-year ploy that has worked before and may work again.
You can help push all of our candidates on to victory with a contribution to Senate Conservatives Action and you can help us hold Republicans accountable after the election is over.
Thank you for your generous support.
Together, we will create a real “check” on the bipartisan DC establishment that is destroying our country.
