The Future Power For Vehicles Is Water

If you want to live a green life, then you have to look for ways to reduce wasting energy such as how you use your vehicle. Since the beginning of the car industry, we have used oil to fuel most of the cars worldwide. Over time, the amount of petroleum we now have will get lower and lower. It depends on who you listen to, but the petroleum supply gets less each year, due to the world’s demand for oil. Eventually we’re going to simply no longer have gas on the planet. Nonetheless we do have the technology to utilize water as a power source for the automobile.

The hydrogen that can be extracted from water could be used to power up the engines of many vehicles. The first hydrogen powered car was manufactured by the German auto company BMW. There are not very many hydrogen powered cars on the road yet but it may start to increase in the near future. The BMW Hydrogen 7 possesses an engine that uses both gas and hydrogen, so it still uses fuel, but it is a vast improvement. In the near future, we can expect to see automobiles that run only on hydrogen fuel.

The technology for hydrogen powered cars have been around for 10 years or so. The engine is the biggest challenge to using water as a green energy source, rather than using gas. Water is kept in a tank that is 30 gallons and it stops the water from evaporating. A garden hose cannot be used yet, to fill up a tank, but the BMW H2R is partly fueled by water, using liquid nitrogen as a fuel. The car can go from 0 to 60 mph in under 6 seconds and it has 285 horsepower with a top speed of 185.5 mph.

Using water and hydrogen to power the vehicle is a fantastic idea as they do not produce any dangerous pollutants into the air. Compared with regular fuel, water is less heavy, does not give off carbon dioxide and it burns faster. It is predicted that we can find cars that run on water over the next 10 to 20 years. Once dealerships can make it financially rewarding, we are going to see companies creating water-based cars in massive quantities.

With the rising price of gas, the best option for us at the moment is the electric auto. As the price of gas continues to climb, people are searching for alternatives to using fossil fuel vehicles. It certainly won’t be very long before we see a vehicle that could run on a green energy source like water. The only real issue we have at the moment is our imagination.
