Your Questions About Power For Home Pro Reviews

John asks…

will Pro tools Keystudio work on Windows 7?

Hi,

I am totally new to pro tools and am just looking into different versions and trying to decide what to get.

I am looking at the Pro Tools Keystudio M-Powered Essential 8.0.2 for aroung £80.00 because it gives me everything I need i.e audio interface, software, keyboard is a bonus.

I have read a lot of bad reviews saying the software doesn’t work on windows 7 and I thought this would be a good place to find out the facts.

I have a PC with 3GB RAM, 64bit with Windows 7 home premium.

Am I right in saying it will work on windows 7 if I update the software to 8.0.3?

Is this too good to be true? Is the quality going to be poor?

Any help would be much appreciated!!

Henry Dover answers:

You’re kinda right. Windows 7 is only compatible with Pro Tools 8.0.4 and higher. Ignore who ever said something about 3.1.4, that’s blatantly wrong.

George asks…

I Have About $11k For a Home Theater…. What Should I Get?

Ok all you experts, title says it all. This is my tentative system so far… Any other options, upgrades or thoughts/comments are appreciated. By the way, I want to keep the cost no more than $500 more than what I’m looking at. So for the TV I’m going with the 60″ Pioneer Elite Kuro Pro-151. Blu-Ray/DVD player…Sony PS3. Up front sound comes from a pair of Definitive Technology Mythos One and a Mythos Nine in for the center. The rears will be a pair of Mythos gem XLs. Lows will be handled by a SVS PB-13 Ultra. They system’s brain and power will come from a Yamaha RX-V3900. OK so what do you guys think?

I’ve seen the TV in action and it is ridiculous. They had it and the Panasonic 65in plasma basically next to each other and I think the Pioneer looked slightly better esp in the blacks (they were both playing The Dark Knight on Blu-ray). I watch alot of action and sports so I’m 99.5% sure I’m gonna go with a plasma over an LCD, even with the newer 240Hz models coming out. I also heard a pair of smaller Definitive Tech Mythos towers, and was blown away. One of my friends has an older model of the PB-13 ultra from a company called SVS which I had never heard of and it was thunderous so I’m thinking this thing should be WICKED. Couple of my other boy’s have PS3s, and from what I can gather, they are better than just about any stand alone Blu-ray player out there AND it has the little feature which allows you to play games…can’t go wrong with that right? I haven’t heard the Yamaha receiver, but my pops has an older HT model and it works great.. All the reviews have been very favorable as well. Ok guys Help me out. Here are a few manufacture links (everyone knows about the PS3)

PS—> Gloss black for everything of course
Thanks guys.. keep the suggestions coming. I figured the hardest ie, the most subjective part would be the speakers. I’m definitely gonna try to hear some more. There are alot of high quality loudspeakers from companies I’ve never even heard of, let alone “heard” them.
I was definitely looking at the Pioneer SC-07 as its Class D amp and new ICE power attracted me. I was very detracted however to learn that a receiver at this price point offers no HDMI video processing, which will be necessary for cable/satellite broadcasts.

You need to start over and learn a heck of a lot more about what products are available. Focus this time around! Clear your mind of the hype.
