J.Reu Alabama rapper’s long-awaited album is ready for release after years of building his following with live shows and mixtapes. On 12/12/12 J.Reu announced his new single “Can I Get On”. This artist has been a YouTube sensation with his catchy lyrics and over all style. He has had over 1 million views on YouTube. This is the first single off of his new albumn which will be release in the spring of 2013 and it will catch everyone by storm. J.Reu is an indie artist that has created a unique buzz for himself via social media. With over 115,000 fans on Twitter (which he has a verified account) to over 7,000 fans on Facebook and now he is on Vevo he has become a media hit.

In 2005 J.Reu was just an employee of Best Buy while he was going to college. While he was there at morning store meetings he was always asked by the store managers to freestyle about the stores previous work day stats.He decided to ask the store managers to sponsor some studio time to record they agreed and he recorded three tracks. He and another rapper from an Ohio Best Buy store named Jake Rockswell started creating a serious marketing buzz behind the best buy raps and they were chosen for the Best Buy Tour.

Following the tour Best Buy decided to send footage from the tour to every store so the employees could see. Since then random Best Buy Employees have taken it upon themselves to rap about Best Buy in the form of video freestyles and actual music videos. J.Reu paved the way for this style of marketing and musical choice. On Welcome to J.Reusalem, 25-year-old J.Reu (aka Jacob Reuben Marchand) talks about avoiding the pitfalls of urban streets, while also exalting the success he now enjoys. “A lot of the songs are about my life, my pain, and relationships and you can tell I’ve been through these things,” says Marchand, whose father neglected him before birth. When he welcomes the world into his world J.Reusalem is him living as an artist making money,touring across the world, and not having to struggle or go thru any pain. When he is outside of J.Reusalem he has a fear of never getting back to J.Reusalem and being in his own world where he feels safe. He touches on everything that it took for him to make it from the streets, how he beat dead in relationships and how he made the world come after him instead of him chasing the world.

In early February 2012, J.Reu released a new mixtape under Haven Productions Inc. called “WillRap4Beatz”. The tape consisted of 11 remixed songs from popular artists like Nicki Minaj, J. Cole, Wale, and Kanye West and 2 original songs. Briefly after releasing the tape he released the tape’s first single and music video “Straight To The Bank”. The music video was shot by Jay Jackson better known as “JJ The Prodigy” and shows J.Reu’s large “Air Jordan” shoe collection and him getting ready to go to the bank as he eats cereal with friends and puts on his clothes. J.Reu has also released a Music Video to his freestyle of Common’s single “Sweet” and remix to Rick Ross’s song “Stay Schemin’” that he renamed “Real Niggas” which featured KD and Aerostotle. On a local Atlanta radio interview J.Reu said that he and JJ (Jay Jackson) would be releasing a music video to every song on the mixtape.

Least to say the rapper has created a sensational name for himself and has been able to make it to the top without a major label backing him. We spoke with J.Reu and asked him the meaning behind the single, “Can I Get On“. He simply stated, “It means just what it says, can I get on. I have worked hard to prove myself to many and people use to think rapping was a hobby, but it’s my life. I just want to know, “Can I Get On”? J. Reu is determined that even if he doesn’t “Get On” he will continue to move on. This is one young determined artist who is paving the way to success by not allowing failure to become an option.
